Job Description
Join a well-established commercial real estate organization as a Building Engineer supporting a portfolio of office and industrial properties throughout Houston. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining building systems, responding to tenant service requests, coordinating vendors, and ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant, and operating efficiently. The ideal candidate has strong commercial building maintenance experience and enjoys working independently while collaborating with property management teams.
Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life safety, and building automation systems.
  • Respond to tenant service requests, troubleshoot equipment issues, and complete general building repairs.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside vendors, tenant improvement projects, inspections, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory, building compliance, permits, inspections, and operating records.
  • Assist with property budgets, utility monitoring, risk mitigation, and provide leadership to engineering staff while maintaining positive tenant relationships.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, construction, or related experience.
  • Previous experience in commercial property management required.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and rooftop units (RTUs) required.
  • Valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and ability to travel between assigned properties.
  • Experience with centrifugal chillers, chilled-water systems, and HVAC pneumatic controls is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint), Adobe, and BAS/security software.
