Job description

Job Title: Building Automation Controls Technician (BAS Technician)Overview

We’re seeking a hands-on Building Automation Controls Technician to install, program, and commission BAS systems across new construction and retrofit projects. This role combines field work, controls programming, and troubleshooting, supporting high-profile projects in sectors like data centers, sports facilities, and hospitality.


Key Responsibilities
  • Install, startup, and commission building automation systems (BAS)
  • Program and configure PLCs and BAS platforms
  • Troubleshoot controls, mechanical, and electrical systems to optimize performance
  • Integrate BAS with third-party equipment and ensure reliable communication
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and control diagrams
  • Work directly with clients to resolve issues and provide technical support
  • Perform field service, maintenance, upgrades, and system tuning
  • Document work and update project drawings using tools like AutoCAD/Visio
  • Collaborate with engineering and energy teams on system design and efficiency
  • Travel to job sites for installation, commissioning, and support

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years in controls, automation, or BAS installation/troubleshooting
  • 3+ years specifically with building automation systems
  • Experience with platforms such as:
    • Tridium Niagara (AX/N4)
    • Johnson Controls FX, Siemens, Trane, ALC, Reliable Controls
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and controls
  • Knowledge of BAS/network protocols (BACnet, etc.)
  • Ability to read schematics and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD/Visio a plus
  • Trade certification (HVAC, Electrical) or equivalent experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Nice to Have
  • Strong Niagara experience (highly preferred)
  • Experience with system integration and multi-vendor environments
  • Exposure to large commercial or mission-critical facilities

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boca Raton, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
