About the role

If you've been in the BAS world a while, you know the difference between a job that just keeps you busy and one that keeps you engaged, respected, and growing.

At Automated Logic, a Carrier Company, our Controls Engineers describe this as the place where they finally found both challenge and balance. A place that trusts your judgment, values your craftsmanship, and gives you the tools and autonomy to make an impact.

As a Controls Engineer, you'll be an expert voice on-site- performing difficult and complex engineering activities and creating standard work for common procedures.

Our long-tenured people put it simply:

"I finally found it. Not just a job. Not just a paycheck. A work home."

If that sounds like what you've been looking for, we'd like to welcome you home too.
At Automated Logic, we believe in investing in our people. As a Controls Engineer, you'll have access to:

  • Professional Development: Training programs, certifications, and continuing education in BAS technologies and leadership.
  • Career Pathways and Leadership Opportunities: Opportunities to advance into roles such as Project Engineer, Technical Manager, or Operations Lead, as well as mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic initiatives that shape our service delivery.
  • Recognition & Rewards: Recognition programs that celebrate your contributions.

What you'll gain

  • Health & wellness benefits, 401k, paid time off and competitive wages - along with fleet vehicle eligibility and OT opportunities
  • Stability and respect. Many of our field engineers have been here 10-20 years - because their work, time, and expertise are valued.
  • Freedom to execute. You'll own your projects, make field calls, and collaborate closely with engineers and PMs who trust your expertise.
  • Continuous learning. Access to advanced training in WebCTRL, networking, integration, and system analytics.
  • Balance and culture. Leadership that respects family time, and a team that looks out for one another.

Scope of Position

  • As a Controls Engineer, you will be crucial to ALC's business through the designing of advanced building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for someone who works well in a team and has excellent problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
What you'll do
  • Under minimal direction, plan, prioritize and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritizing tasks to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met.
  • Manage several components of a large scale, complex, or significant engineering project, from start to finish, so that it is completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage major responsibilities across multiple engineering disciplines on a regular basis.
  • Perform complex engineering activities that may not be attributed to a defined discipline and provides guidance to less senior employees.
  • Design and program building automation systems, site-specific configuration of control systems, and control algorithms.
  • Adhere to project requirements and company and customer standards of design, programming, and implementation.
  • Create a clear design document for project teams with technical information.
  • Document and communicate the building automation system design and revisions.
  • Develop graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems.
  • Test programming and interfaces prior to implantation.
  • Provide technical support to sales representatives to ensure customers' needs are met.
  • Identify and communicate project opportunities and risks.
  • Support of functional testing for building systems.
  • Jobsite visits if necessary to aid in project support

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 1+ years of overall HVAC controls experience in the field or office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with advanced building automation software, such as WebCTRL, and installing building automation controls.
  • Expert with TCP/IP networks including wireless technology.
  • Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications.

At Automated Logic, you'll find the kind of work that challenges your mind, respects your time, and rewards your mastery - in a place that feels like home.
