Job description

Description
We are seeking a Senior Building Automation System (BAS) Technician to support projects in the West Palm Beach market. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, functionality, and successful delivery of BAS installations and systems. The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented technician with strong problem-solving skills who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and can operate independently in the field.
This position plays a critical role in reviewing submittals, verifying installation quality, performing point-to-point and system checks, and leading startup and final commissioning efforts. The technician will validate programming sequences and graphics during initial system checkout and collaborate closely with commissioning agents to ensure systems meet design intent and operational standards.
Location & Travel
Our main office is located in Sunrise, Florida. This role will primarily support projects in the West Palm Beach area and is largely field-based with remote flexibility. The selected candidate will be required to report to the Sunrise office on an as-needed basis, as directed by the Operations Manager.
Pay Scale:
$25.50-$60.00/hour
On top of base pay, experienced Building Automation Technicians will receive a company vehicle + gas card.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret project submittals for accuracy and completeness 
  • Inspect and verify quality of installation work in the field 
  • Perform point-to-point checkout and system validation 
  • Execute system startup, including final quality control checks 
  • Review and validate control programming sequences and graphics during initial system checkout 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during startup and commissioning phases 
  • Coordinate and review system operation with commissioning agents 
  • Support project teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a BAS Technician or in a similar role 
  • Strong understanding of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and system integration 
  • Experience with system startup, commissioning, and quality assurance processes 
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control drawings 
  • Hands-on experience with point-to-point checkout and system troubleshooting 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively 
  • Effective communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external partners 
  • Experience with Distech Controls is preferred, but not required 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach as needed.
  • Ability to walk active job sites, including climbing stairs and ladders and navigating uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to wear required PPE during site visits.
