New York, NY โ€ข Remote

Full-time

Re-posted 20 days ago

Job description

This is an evergreen posting, meaning we are continuously accepting applications and reviewing candidates on a rolling basis. Even if there isn't an immediate opening at your preferred location, we encourage you to apply so we can connect with you as opportunities arise.

We know the right fit matters on both sides. Applying here means joining our talent community โ€” our recruiting team will reach out when a role aligns with your background and location.

Welcome to Brightline! We are seeking part-time or full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to join our care team. In this role, you will work alongside an outstanding multidisciplinary team of therapists, psychologists, coaches, and prescribers to deliver thoughtful, high-quality psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and their families.

This role is hybrid: you will provide in-person and remote care at our New York Clinic locations. This is not a high-volume, assembly-line practice. We take time with our patients, use a structured three-part diagnostic series, and conduct 30-minute medication management visits that allow for real clinical relationship-building.

You will report directly to the Medical Director, with support from the Chief Medical Officer. You will receive weekly individual supervision with the Medical Director as well as team-based group supervision โ€” because we believe that clinician development and clinical quality go hand in hand.

ResponsibilitiesClinical Care
  • Conduct comprehensive three-part diagnostic evaluations โ€” including separate sessions with caregivers, the child or adolescent, and a feedback session โ€” to ensure thorough, family-centered assessment.

  • Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management via 30-minute follow-up visits, using psychotherapy add-on codes to support quality therapeutic engagement beyond the medication check.

  • Complete thorough biopsychosocial intake evaluations, incorporating psychiatric history, medical history, psychosocial functioning, family systems, cultural context, and relevant environmental factors.

  • Conduct risk assessments related to suicidality, self-harm, harm to others, abuse, neglect, and safety concerns, and initiate appropriate clinical interventions when indicated.

  • Apply trauma-informed, equity-centered, and culturally responsive practices across all clinical interactions.

  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications โ€” including stimulants and other controlled substances โ€” in accordance with evidence-based guidelines and Brightline's clinical protocols.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, testing psychologists, coaches, and other non-clinical team members to deliver coordinated, holistic care for each patient and family.

  • Participate in case consultations, treatment planning discussions, and team meetings to ensure alignment across disciplines.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively across professional backgrounds โ€” translating clinical reasoning into language that is accessible and actionable for non-prescribing colleagues.

  • Contribute to a team culture of psychological safety, mutual respect, and shared accountability for patient outcomes.

Documentation & Operations
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of session notes, care plans, medication decisions, and progress updates within Brightline's electronic health record system.

  • Utilize Brightline's AI-assisted documentation tools โ€” including an AI scribe โ€” to support efficient, high-quality note completion without sacrificing clinical nuance.

  • Adhere to Brightline's documentation standards and turnaround expectations, supporting seamless care coordination across the team.

  • Partner effectively with non-clinical care operations staff on scheduling, patient communication, and care logistics.

Growth & Innovation
  • Engage with Brightline's evolving technology stack with curiosity and adaptability, including AI tools, telehealth platforms, and clinical decision support features.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical trainings, and professional development opportunities offered by Brightline.

  • Contribute clinical perspective to team discussions about care model improvement, protocol development, and patient experience.

RequirementsClinical Expertise
  • Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC); board-eligible candidates with a clear certification timeline will be considered for the right candidate.

  • Minimum 2โ€“3 years of post-training clinical experience specifically in pediatric mental health; pediatric-specific experience is required, not preferred.

  • Active DEA license with demonstrated comfort prescribing stimulants and other controlled substances in a pediatric population.

  • Active New York state license, or willingness to obtain one with administrative and financial support provided.

  • Expertise in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents, including complex diagnostic presentations.

  • Working knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches in pediatric psychiatry, including familiarity with ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, ASD, and trauma.

Clinical Style & Collaboration
  • Warm, engaging clinical style with a genuine commitment to family-centered care and therapeutic relationship-building.

  • Strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills โ€” comfortable working alongside therapists, psychologists, coaches, and care operations staff as true peers.

  • Culturally responsive and equity-centered approach to clinical care.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to share clinical reasoning across professional disciplines clearly and constructively.

Adaptability & Technology
  • Comfort and enthusiasm for technology-forward care delivery, including telehealth platforms, EHR systems, and AI-assisted tools.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced, evolving startup environment where processes and tools are continuously improving.

  • Strong documentation habits with the ability to meet turnaround expectations without sacrificing quality.

Nice to Have
  • Experience working in a hybrid in-person and virtual clinical model.

  • Familiarity with or prior use of AI documentation tools or clinical decision support platforms.

  • Licensure in additional New York metro states or openness to cross-licensure with administrative support.

We Offer Several Benefits, Perks, and Stipends (FTE):
  • Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus life and long term disability coverage and a flexible spending account (FSA)

  • Time Off: Paid time off, paid sick time, 12 paid holidays, and paid parental leave

  • Financial Wellness: 401(k)+matching*

  • Stipends and Reimbursements: Work from home stipend, health and wellness stipend, professional development reimbursement, commuter benefits, cell phone and internet reimbursement, and licensure maintenance support

  • Work Environment: A collaborative, clinician-led culture that fosters connection, support, and community

The target compensation for a full-time position ranges from $116,000 - $140,000 per year. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including licensure, experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.

Our commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce

At Brightline, we believe that Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging are essential to the foundation upon which our mission is built. We are committed to:

  • Building a future where all families can access inclusive, high-quality care

  • Creating an environment that encourages our employees to show up authentically, reach their highest potential, and have an equal opportunity to thrive

  • Systematically evaluating and improving our inherent beliefs, observed behaviors, structures, and systems

  • Ensuring that every employee, candidate, client, and family we serve is valued and respected
