Job description

Job Details:
Job Title: Logistics Assistant/ Hardware Logistics & Inventory Coordinator
Location: Sunnyvale, CA 94086 (with occasional travel to San Francisco)
Duration: 6 months
Pay rate: $30-34 per hour on W2
Job Summary:
Role Overview
As the Hardware Logistics & Inventory Coordinator, you are the operational backbone of our Sunnyvale AV R&D garage. Your primary mission is to manage our secure inventory "cage," enforce parts check-out protocols, and physically support the garage floor so our Hardware Engineers can focus on design and testing. You act as the strict gatekeeper of our high-value sensors, while also serving as the logistical bridge between our Sunnyvale engineers and our main San Francisco (MB5) warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Garage "Cage" Gatekeeper: Act as the primary owner of the secure storage room in Sunnyvale. Ensure all Lidar, Radar, and Compute hardware is organized, secured, and properly scanned into our Inventory Management System (FleetIO).
  • Engineering Support & Staging: Check individual components in and out for engineers, enforcing strict traceability rules. Assist the Reliability team with setting up sensor test benches or staging vehicles for Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Hands-on Assistance: Perform basic physical tasks to unblock the engineering team, such as routing basic cables, swapping data SSDs, or assisting with cosmetic vehicle teardowns.
  • Cross-Site Coordination: Act as the physical courier for critical needs. You will regularly coordinate with your counterpart at the San Francisco hub to receive inventory transfers, execute RMAs, and occasionally drive parts between the two sites mid-day to prevent engineering delays.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • 2+ years in inventory control, automotive parts management, or as an R&D garage technician.
  • Highly organized with the ability to kindly but firmly enforce inventory rules with engineers.
  • Tech-savvy; comfortable using inventory databases (FleetIO, ERPs) and barcode scanners.
  • Location Flexibility: Valid driver's license required. While your primary base is Sunnyvale, you must be willing to occasionally travel to our San Francisco location to transport critical components or assist with major inventory events.
  • Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and use basic hand tools. Forklift/pallet jack experience is a plus.
