Overview
As a Microsoft Logistics Technician, you will perform cycle audits, execute incoming/outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors, and document inbound and outbound deliveries. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your knowledge of inventory management principles, warranty process management, data bearing device destruction and advance your career in the process.

Responsibilities
Customer Service
  • Maintains a strong focus to understand the impact of their work when completing tickets and assigned Inventory and Asset Management (IAM) tasks. Communicates across Data Center teams (e.g., Site Services, Critical Environment, Facility Management, Security, Vendors, Safety, Supply Chain), and supports Microsoft and non-Microsoft gear deliveries. Ensures IAM tasks are completed accurately as requested, as well as meet company and industry standards and policies. Builds strong working relationships with customers. Identifies, coordinates, manages expectations, and offers alternatives when defining stakeholder solutions in light of ongoing company standards, operations, and procedures (e.g., schedule, technical feasibility, policy, procedure, tools).

Data Bearing Device (DBD) Destruction
  • Performs destruction of data bearing devices (DBD) following all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Microsoft policies as necessary. Ensures DBD serial number matches with database. Coordinates with and oversees any third-party vendors who perform DBD destruction as necessary. Begins to act as a resource for the decommissioning process to ensure customer security is maintained, performing data bearing devices (DBD) destruction as necessary. Decommissions servers, maintaining compliance, meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and documenting actions taken against a decommissioning workflow.

Fleet Management
  • Performs weekly vehicle inspections. Coordinates with other teams (e.g., IT, CE) on location of equipment and staging on docs.

Inbound and Outbound Logistics
  • Coordinates, prepares, and executes incoming/outgoing deliveries (e.g. purchase order [PO] receiving, Rack Movement Supervisor [RMS] activities) based on site-class designation. Documents inbound/outbound packages. Receives, confirms, tracks, stores, dispatches, and delivers material from the warehouse to destinations, including production facilities, retail stores, and corporate offices. Begins to communicate directly with customers, stakeholders, vendors, (e.g., landlords) in regard to scheduling both inbound and outbound deliveries. Applies appropriate customs documentations and standards for outbound packages. Ensures complete and detailed physical inventory tracking and staging.

IT Inventory Management
  • Maintains and stewards up-to-date and accurate logical information within various inventory management systems (e.g., configuration management databases, asset management repositories). Performs inventory cycle audits, data corrections, and various Data Center regulatory compliance or certification control audit activity. Performs material movement, including shipping/receiving and inventory management per standard process. Starts to monitor and prioritize ticketing queues, works to resolve escalations, and clears blocking issues to enable continued delivery of Inventory and Asset Management (IAM) activities.

Operational Excellence
  • Follows procedures to contribute to plans to develop, build, and run methodologies. Ensures execution according to accepted procedures for consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of delivery. Completes required security and data management training while complying with security and data management procedures/policies. Complies with environmental sustainability and zero waste initiatives. Facilitates training for relevant site-specific procedures and tools (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, technician on-hand processes, inventory maintenance software, RMA portals, Rack Movement).

Procurement
  • Notifies management about ordering stock shortages. Escalates any issues to management.

Safety Practices
  • Complies with security and data management policies. Escalates any security or safety incidents. Coordinates with security escorts for third-party vendors. Engages in Task Hazard Analysis (THA) consistently for every task to be performed and ensures sign off from appropriate person for any related risks. Conducts rack movement activities, supporting training on devices and tools and upholding safety standards. Follows established protocols on dealing with unsafe materials out of containment, leveraging safety alert system, escalating to management, and properly disposing of them.

Tactical Shift Management
  • Ensures plans to maintain and organize space are followed. Performs assigned tasks and escalates issues during high-volume work activity or escalation-based situations. Leverages process knowledge and best judgment to complete next task without direct supervision. Monitors inbound and outbound schedules, escalating deviations from scheduling. Receives and organizes deliveries for supported groups (e.g., IT, Critical Environments, Facility Management, third-party supplies, etc.)

Travel and Work Hours (Applies to but is not limited to US-based Data Center roles)
  • May travel up to 25%, typically domestically to and from multiple locations during the workday. Working 12-hour shifts, including shift assignments during non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Warranty Process Management
  • Engages supplier to initiate warranty claim when automation is not available and processes the orders. Processes failed vendor hardware devices using online/other tools, including information processing, packaging, shipment, and receipt of return for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and non-RMA devices. Performs manual return processes for non-RMA failed parts. Begins to perform manual ordering processes of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts. Follows all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to RMA and non-RMA warranty process.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma AND 1+ year(s) experience warehouse/supply chain in an information technology (IT) environment, inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate's citizenship will be verified with a valid passport
  • Criminal Justice Information Services: This position requires passing a background check conducted through the CJIS criminal justice information system by authorized local, state, and/or federal agencies

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years experience in warehouse/supply chain in an information technology (IT) environment, IT, and/or logistics, operating heavy-load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation OR equivalent experience..

Logistics Technician ATR-C - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $23.85 - $37.79 per hour. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $30.05 - $41.49 per hour.
