Job description

Overview
Pet Supplies Plus (PSP) and Wag N' Wash (WNW) have built something special: trusted neighborhood brands that neighbors love, franchisees believe in, and our brand partners (Pet Partners) value. And we're just getting started.
This is an opportunity to help redefine the marketing playbook. As PSP Group continues to evolve, we're reimagining how we create value for neighbors, strengthen our brands, grow our private label portfolio, deepen Pet Partner relationships, and connect our marketing investments more directly to business outcomes.
The Marketing Director will play a central role in shaping that future. You'll help modernize how we go to market, bring greater integration and discipline across the enterprise, and build new capabilities that unlock growth for PSP, WNW, franchisees, and Pet Partners. If you're energized by transformation, motivated by meaningful ownership, and excited by the opportunity to build what comes next, this role offers a chance to make a lasting impact.
The Director of Marketing is a hybrid position scheduled to work in person from our corporate headquarters (Pet Central) with office days on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and remote work on Thursdays and Fridays.
Responsibilities/Qualifications
Position Summary
PSP Group is seeking a Marketing Director to reimagine how PSP and WNW show up in market to neighbors (current and potential customers). This leader will steward the PSP/WNW brands, oversee orchestration of integrated marketing plans, and maximize the value of media investments and (vendor/brand) Pet Partner programs.
The role is designed for a modern retail marketer who can translate enterprise priorities into clear go-to-market plans, align merchandising and operations with marketing execution, and create measurable value for PSP/WNW and its Pet Partners. The ideal candidate is both a strategic brand builder and a commercially minded operator who can bring clarity, discipline, and cross-functional accountability to a fast-moving marketing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Brand Strategy & Positioning
  • Steward PSP and WNW's brand strategy, value proposition, and market positioning across neighbor-facing touchpoints.
  • Ensure consistent expression of both brands across paid, owned, earned, digital commerce and store in corporate and franchise-owned environments and activations.
  • Lead the marketing strategy for PSP's private brand portfolio, shaping brand positioning, launch strategies, and ongoing growth programs that drive awareness, trial, and loyalty.
  • Lead annual and seasonal brand planning in partnership with the broader Marketing team, Merchandising, and Operations.
  • Develop integrated campaign platforms that support both long-term brand strength and near-term commercial priorities.
Integrated Go-to-Market Leadership
  • Own the enterprise marketing calendar and oversee integrated campaign planning and orchestration to translate merchandising, services, loyalty, private brand, promotional, and partner priorities into coordinated market activations.
  • Build the capability and toolkit to deliver clear briefs, timelines, governance routines, decision rights, and post-campaign reviews.
Media, Social & Earned Communications
  • Lead paid media strategy, agency ecosystem, campaign integration, and media planning alignment.
  • Oversee organic social strategy, PR, community storytelling, influencer/creator activation, and earned communications, so that all efforts ladder to a single campaign strategy and neighbor-facing narrative.
Franchise Marketing Enablement
  • Build and strengthen scalable marketing toolkits and activation routines that franchisees can easily understand and deploy.
  • Ensure local marketing flexibility while protecting PSP & WNW brand standards and neighbor experience.
Pet Partner Growth & Retail Media
  • Lead the marketing strategy for key Pet Partner relationships, including input into Joint Business Planning.
  • Grow Pet Partner engagement through more strategic, insight-led, and performance-measured full-funnel programs, including the Retail Media Program.
  • Create integrated activation opportunities that deliver value for PSP & WNW, Pet Partners, franchisees, and neighbors.
  • Establish partner measurement routines that demonstrate campaign impact, ROI, and new opportunities.
Team, Agency & Operating Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 10 with 3+ direct reports.
  • Clarify roles, decision rights, and ways of working across internal teams, agencies, franchise partners, and vendor partners.
  • Improve campaign discipline, planning rigor, creative briefing quality, and accountability across the go-to-market process.
  • Develop a marketing effectiveness practice, partnering with Marketing Analytics and outside partners to evaluate media effectiveness, campaign contribution, and optimization opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of strategic thinking, commercial ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, ideally in retail and/or consumer products industries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading integrated marketing campaigns across paid, owned, earned, retail, and local/store activation channels.
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, promotional calendars, media, social, PR, franchise/local marketing, and partner-funded marketing programs.
  • Commercial mindset with proven ability to connect brand and integrated marketing activity to business outcomes such as demand generation, customer growth, partner value, and sales contribution.
  • Experience managing agencies, budgets, campaign calendars, cross-functional teams, and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical capability; comfortable defining KPIs, interpreting performance readouts, and making optimization recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to drive alignment across internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • People leadership experience with a track record of building talent, operating discipline, and collaborative ways of working.
Preferred
  • MBA
  • Experience in franchise, partner marketing, or multi-location retail environments.
  • Experience commercializing retail media networks, sponsored content, partner-funded campaigns, or co-marketing programs.
  • Experience supporting private brand growth or owned-brand go-to-market strategies.
