Position Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team three days per week in our San Diego office. This integral role is responsible for managing accounts payable, day-to-day bookkeeping activities, processing payroll, and managing accounting intern(s), one of which reconciles accounts receivable. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced small business environment.

Type: Hourly, Part-Time


Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper approval
  • Manage payment scheduling and ensure timely disbursement to vendors
  • Reconcile AP aging reports and resolve discrepancies with vendors
  • Maintain organized records of all payables and supporting documentation


General Bookkeeping

  • Record and categorize day-to-day financial transactions
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Assist with expense tracking, reporting, and budget monitoring
  • Ensure timely processing of payroll
  • Support month-end close processes and provide reports to leadership as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks


Intern Management

  • Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to accounting intern(s) which handle Accounts Receivable
  • Delegate appropriate tasks, review work for accuracy, and provide constructive feedback
  • Support intern onboarding and training on internal processes and systems


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a small business environment
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) required
  • Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, accounts receivable processes, and general bookkeeping principles
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff or interns a plus
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across a part-time schedule
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
