About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software QA Engineer to provide quality test for complex Windows-based software systems. This role owns test strategy and drives validation across the software lifecycle, partnering closely with engineering and product teams to prevent defects, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in test for C#/.NET applications, strong troubleshooting skills across multi-process/inter-process communication (IPC) architectures, and the ability to mentor engineers and champion best practices in quality engineering.

What you'll do
  • Own and evolve the overall test strategy for Windows-based products, including test planning and coverage goals.
  • Define, implement, and monitor quality metrics (defect trends, coverage) and drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate requirements into testable acceptance criteria and robust validation plans.
  • Lead deep-dive investigations of complex issues (logs) and provide clear root-cause analysis in partnership with developers.
  • Drive release qualification: test execution coordination, go/no-go recommendations, and stakeholder communication.
  • Evaluate and introduce tools/technologies to improve CI quality signals (test reporting, parallelization, environment provisioning, static analysis).

What we are looking for in you
  • Extensive experience testing large-scale or mission-critical Windows applications, including defining validation strategies.
  • Experience with CI/CD and test execution in the instruments.
  • Solid understanding of multi-process architectures and IPC mechanisms, with the ability to validate concurrency, timing, and reliability edge cases.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills; able to influence without authority and drive alignment on quality.
  • Automation test experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree of Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in software quality engineering for Windows applications.

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to [25-50] pounds as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video, and written communication.
  • Ability to occasionally move about the office to access meetings or resources.

Work Location: Hybrid work schedule on-site in Waltham, MA
Targeted Salary Range: $140,000 - $165,000/year.
