Job description

Summary of Position:

Working under the direction of the Bids & Accounts Receivable Manager, this position is responsible for all activities related to the bids process, implementing the pricing strategy, and providing support for products and commodities administration.

Essential Functions:

A. Bids management and coordination

1. Organizes the bid submission process and works closely with a core team while bringing in experts when required.

2. Is as the first point of contact for the client and liaises with all parties involved in the process.

3. Responsible in every aspect of bid submission:

a. Completes the bid on time and within budget.

b. Ensures all the client's questions have been answered as fully as possible.

c. Makes sure the organization has given itself the best possible chance of success.

d. Reviews and understands legal requirements and ensures compliance is met.

4. Facilitates status meetings with supervisor to communicate project updates as well as identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.

5. Supports the broker and sales teams in articulating and communicating the bid strategy in a clear and timely manner.

6. Analyzes the bids process and recommends improvements; evaluates current demand for specific flavors of product to decide whether MBC Companies should expand and bring these new flavors to market; and analyzes competitiveness of prior bidding cycle to rate the effectiveness of MBC Companies’ current pricing model.

7. Works with sales team to increase specific items on bidding list.

B. Pricing control and management

1. Conducts cost and price analysis and works with supervisor to implement all price changes.

2. Analyzes and responds to customer quote requests on time.

3. Responsible for resolving pricing discrepancies.

4. Contributes to external and internal communication of entire pricing and item changes.

5. Develops reports by project type, client, and segment for project-job pricing.

6. Analyzes and reports every month’s pricing metrics.

7. Maintains documented records to use for bids proposal.

C. Product/Commodities management

1. Contributes to procurement and commodities function by coordinating activities with pricing team, sales team, and broker.

D. Team and Personal Development

1. Fully supports the company’s Mission, Vision and Values.

2. Trains employees on proper and effective bids and products processes.

3. Practices and promotes encouragement and respect by acknowledging and praising coworkers, vendors and brokers.

4. Invests time and effort in professional development and supporting a customer-centric culture.

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2. Computer skills: Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, creating and editing PDF’s. Quick to learn new computer skills and ability to learn new software.

3. Knowledge of applicable county, state and federal school food service regulations; ability to translate standards of Food and Nutrition excellence into daily operations.

4. Knowledge of bids procedures related to food and nutrition services; knowledge of creating and maintaining databases; ability to document real-life procedures and processes related to FNS.
