Job description

Position: Technical Program Manager – BFSI

Location: San Diego, CA

Duration: Long term contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Program Manager with a minimum of 15 years of experience, specifically within the Banking and Financial Services sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading complex, high-value bid projects, overseeing end-to-end delivery, managing stakeholders, and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end program delivery of large, complex initiatives (often bid-based) within the BFSI domain.
  • Collaborate with sales/pre-sales teams to respond to RFPs/RFIs with a focus on delivery feasibility, risk, and scope estimation.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure effective governance and change management across programs.
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams including technical architects, developers, QA, and infrastructure.
  • Track and report project status, KPIs, and risks to C-level stakeholders and clients.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, team efficiency, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage vendor engagements and third-party dependencies where applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory standards relevant to BFSI.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 15+ years of total experience in IT, with at least 8 years in program/project management roles.
  • Strong BFSI domain experience (Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success in leading bid-based projects or large RFP responses.
  • Extensive experience managing multi-million-dollar programs, preferably involving system integration, digital transformation, or platform upgrades.
  • Excellent understanding of SDLC, Agile, and Hybrid methodologies.
  • Strong stakeholder and client management skills, including C-suite interaction.
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore delivery models.
  • Solid risk, change, and resource management abilities.
  • Technical knowledge across cloud platforms, integration layers, or financial applications is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP / PRINCE2 / PMI-ACP / SAFe certifications.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Prior experience in IT services or consulting environments.
