Overview

DePaul is now hiring a full-time Benefits Manager! The Benefits Manager oversees the administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of employee benefits programs for multiple affiliated organizations serving more than 850 employees. This position manages health and welfare benefits, workers' compensation, leave administration support, regulatory compliance, vendor relationships, open enrollment, and employee education. The Benefits Manager partners with organizational leadership, brokers, and consultants to deliver competitive, compliant, and cost-effective benefit programs that support recruitment, retention, and employee well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary resource for employee benefits questions and concerns.
  • Administer all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, FSA/HSA, voluntary benefits, COBRA, and wellness initiatives.
  • Manage benefit eligibility, enrollments, life events, status changes, and terminations, ensuring accurate administration in ADP and vendor systems.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment, employee communications, education sessions, and benefit presentations.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices, monitor vendor payments, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Partner with brokers and consultants on benefit strategy, renewals, cost containment, and plan improvements.
  • Oversee workers' compensation administration, including claim review, accident reporting, trend monitoring, required investigations, and hearing participation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, OSHA, ADA, EEOC, Medicare, and related reporting requirements.
  • Monitor HRIS processes affecting benefit eligibility, enrollment, and ACA measurement periods.
  • Support supervisor and leadership training related to benefits, safety, leaves of absence, and workers' compensation.
  • Maintain expertise in FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and Workers' Compensation regulations and serve as the primary backup for leave administration.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • At least five years of benefits administration experience; proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills; and strong attention to detail.
  • ADP experience and experience administering self-insured medical and workers' compensation programs strongly preferred.
  • Valid, unrestricted NY State driver's license strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business / human resources and HR certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods; lift up to 20 pounds; communicate effectively; and perform routine office tasks, including typing, filing, and operating standard office equipment.
