Automation Software Engineer


Position Summary:
We are seeking an Automation Software Engineer with strong experience in PC-based industrial automation, PLC/IPC systems, instrumentation, industrial networking, and real-time control. The engineer will develop, integrate, commission, and troubleshoot software and control systems connecting industrial PCs, controllers, I/O, sensors, actuators, and process equipment.


Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of industrial automation, equipment-control, or process-control experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 and Beckhoff CX/C-series controllers.
  • PLC programming using IEC 61131-3, especially Structured Text (ST); FBD/Ladder knowledge.
  • Experience with EtherCAT, EtherCAT device mapping, PDO configuration, distributed I/O, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with TwinCAT ADS and PC-to-controller communication.
  • Programming experience in C#/.NET, C++, or Python for PC-side automation applications.
  • Strong understanding of industrial analog/digital I/O, including 0–10 V, ±10 V, 4–20 mA, RTD, thermocouple, pulse/frequency, encoder, PWM, and relay I/O.
  • Hands-on experience integrating sensors, pressure/temperature/flow instrumentation, MFCs, pumps, valves, motors, heaters, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols: RS-232, RS-485, Modbus RTU/TCP, TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, and CAN/CANopen.
  • Knowledge of PID/process control, sequencing, state machines, alarms, interlocks, fault handling, and recovery logic.
  • Experience with Windows/Industrial PCs, PLCs, remote I/O, instrumentation, and equipment communications.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Strong hardware/software, network, instrumentation, and system-level troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment startup, commissioning, I/O validation, and functional testing.
  • Experience with HMI/GUI, data acquisition, process logging, SQL databases, and real-time monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of Git/version control and software documentation.
  • Ability to work directly with prototype and production equipment in laboratory/manufacturing environments.


Preferred / Advantage:

  • Semiconductor or high-tech equipment experience.
  • Experience with vacuum systems, gas delivery, MFCs, pressure controllers, vacuum gauges/pumps, RF/plasma, and safety/facility interlocks.
  • SEMI standards and SECS/GEM.
  • Motion control, servo/stepper systems, automated test equipment, and real-time control.
  • Experience with Visual Studio, MySQL/MongoDB, and industrial data systems.
