What is a bearing sales?

A Bearing Sales job involves selling various types of bearings to industries like manufacturing, automotive, and construction. Sales representatives identify customer needs, recommend suitable products, and provide technical support. They also build relationships with clients, negotiate pricing, and stay updated on industry trends. Strong communication and technical knowledge are essential to succeed in this role.

What does a typical day look like for someone working in bearing sales?

A typical day in Bearing Sales involves identifying potential leads, reaching out to clients—usually both existing and prospective—and providing technical advice on bearing solutions tailored to their machinery or production needs. You may spend time preparing quotations, processing orders, coordinating with supply chain or warehouse teams, and following up on deliveries. Regular interaction with engineers, maintenance teams, and purchasing agents is common, requiring you to translate complex mechanical requirements into practical solutions. The pace can be dynamic, balancing time between office work, onsite client visits, and participation in training or product demos. This variety ensures each workday brings new challenges and learning opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in bearing sales, and why are they important?

To thrive in Bearing Sales, a solid understanding of mechanical components, sales techniques, and market analysis is essential, often supported by experience in industrial sales or a technical/mechanical background. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, inventory management systems, and relevant product certification (such as ABMA training) is highly valuable. Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills help build lasting client relationships and overcome technical objections. These skills enable effective identification of client needs, solution-based selling, and long-term business growth in a competitive marketplace.

Our Team and What We'll Accomplish Together
Our Consumer Goods team is transforming the way consumer goods and CPG organizations plan, sell, and grow-delivering integrated business planning and revenue management solutions that drive measurable results for enterprise customers.
We're building the revenue leadership function for TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods (TAC)-scaling our enterprise sales motion in a competitive market where our solutions deliver unique value to CPG manufacturers, food and beverage companies, and large retail organizations.
As our new Sales Manager, you'll own end-to-end sales strategy and team leadership for a high-performing enterprise sales organization. This role is your opportunity to:
  • Lead a team of seven quota-bearing sales professionals focused on enterprise account strategy and revenue attainment
  • Manage complex, multi-stakeholder buying committees and drive enterprise deal velocity in a competitive landscape
  • Build and scale a high-performing sales practice that consistently delivers results
  • Shape the future of our go-to-market strategy and competitive positioning

If you're energized by owning revenue accountability, developing high-performing teams, and competing to win in a strategic market, this is the role for you.
What You'll Do
Revenue Leadership & Account Strategy
  • Own end-to-end sales strategy for enterprise accounts in the CPG, food & beverage, and consumer goods space
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of quota-bearing sales professionals, accountable for pipeline development, deal strategy, and revenue attainment
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder buying committees (CFO, VP Supply Chain, VP Sales, VP Operations) with consultative, long-cycle sales engagements
  • Develop and articulate compelling ROI-based value propositions that drive deal velocity and close rates
  • Manage enterprise accounts through discovery, evaluation, and close phases with discipline and strategic insight

Team Development & Coaching
  • Coach your team on enterprise sales methodology and deal strategy-helping them build executive relationships, navigate complex buying committees, and close significant enterprise contracts
  • Establish and maintain standards for pipeline hygiene, forecast accuracy, and win/loss analysis
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and support to help your team achieve and exceed targets
  • Identify, develop, and retain high-performing quota-bearing sales professionals
  • Create a culture of accountability, learning, and competitive excellence

Competitive Strategy & Market Insights
  • Identify and win competitive displacement opportunities in a contested market
  • Develop win/loss insights and feed product feedback to inform go-to-market strategy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders at senior and mid-management levels to support retention and growth
  • Monitor market dynamics and competitive threats to stay ahead of customer needs

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Orchestrate cross-functional resources (Pre-Sales, Professional Services, Product) to support deal strategy and customer success
  • Collaborate with Pre-Sales on customer discoveries and product demonstrations to ensure a compelling, consultative buying experience
  • Partner with Professional Services on statements of work (SOWs) and proposals, ensuring solutions are accurately scoped and aligned to client needs
  • Work with Marketing to shape targeted sales strategies, campaigns, and go-to-market plans that generate quality pipeline
  • Oversee RFP submissions and sales campaigns, ensuring alignment across sales, services, support, and product teams

What You Bring
Required Experience
  • 7+ years of sales management experience in enterprise SaaS or software solutions, with at least 3 years managing complex, consultative sales cycles with six-figure deal values and multi-stakeholder buying committees
  • Track record of enterprise SaaS revenue attainment: Proven ability to build and manage sales teams that consistently meet or exceed revenue targets in competitive markets
  • Industry experience selling to consumer goods, food & beverage, or CPG organizations - you understand the buyer, the buying process, supply chain dynamics, and the pain points these organizations face
  • Deep understanding of B2B enterprise SaaS buying cycles: Ability to navigate procurement processes, multi-functional stakeholders (Finance, Operations, IT, Supply Chain), and build compelling ROI-based value propositions for C-suite and operations buyers
  • Demonstrated expertise in pipeline management: Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), forecast accuracy, sales analytics, and using data to drive coaching conversations and account strategy decisions
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills: Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels-from individual contributors to C-suite executives. Strong listening skills and consultative approach to problem-solving

Great-to-Haves
  • Familiarity with Trade Promotion Management (TPM) or Revenue Growth Management (RGM) software solutions
  • Knowledge of trade spend management and return on investment (ROI) analysis within the consumer goods sector
  • Experience with Salesforce, Tableau, or similar enterprise sales and analytics platforms
  • Network within the CPG, food & beverage, or enterprise software sales community
  • Experience in a high-growth SaaS environment or scaling sales organizations
