Job Overview

Benise-Dowling & Associates, Inc. is seeking a positive attitude, self-starter with a goal driven work ethic to call on manufactures in Georgia that outsource powder coating as part of their manufacturing process. This role will have a support staff in estimating, project management and quality management with a direct report to the Vice President. Development of new business will be the primary responsibility for the first several months of your employment. Utilizing your past relationships, current company relationships, and the development of new opportunities through attending and exhibiting at trade shows and other industry functions will be your primary source of leads. Your primary focus will be to increase our current sales volume by the acquisition of new business. The job responsibilities that follow will be in addition as needed once this new business is sold and scheduled. 

Our goal is for you to have a working knowledge of all processes to better serve or sell your potential clients. Your input into ways or ideas for improving our current operations will be welcomed and will become part of our continuous improvement.

As a BDM, you are a crucial part of our leadership team and will be treated in that manner. It is an extremely important position within the organization. It entails strong management skills and a great attitude. In this position, you will represent the company’s core values in everything you are involved in.

You will be required to provide daily communication with multiple clients, employees, and upper management. In addition, you must be able to:

  • Estimating: The BDM is responsible for understanding each estimate that is sent on behalf of the company. This includes a complete understanding of estimating labor rates, material cost, line conveyor line speed, etc. on all powder coating projects

  • Converting Estimates to sales: Identifying opportunities through communication with clients.

  • Provide clients with the type of analysis that shows a return on investment within an appropriate timeframe. Provide client contact with the information they need that would equate to a minimum close ratio of 20% when analyzed on an annual basis.

  • Sales: The BDM’s role in the sales effort is to deliver proposals to their customers in a timely manner that provides value over and above what is being asked for in the project documents to differentiate us from the competition. Part of the sales role is to build long-lasting relationships with clients by becoming their everything when it comes to the services we provide.

  • Vendor Relations: The BDM must understand all powder coating systems as it relates to products, & preparation. This strong knowledge of the powder coating industry will allow you the ability to work with outside vendors to provide the best overall coating system, which in turn will provide the best overall value for our clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of qualified clients in pre-determined market segments that follow your personal company developed business plan.

  • Develop New Business through involvement with trade organizations, trade shows, and entertaining existing clients in a manner that builds value, trust, and friendships.

  • Develops and maintains client relationships through doing what you say every time you say it.

  • Act as a liaison between the client and project team.

  • Maintains positive relationships with customers, employees, & suppliers.

  • Participates in meetings, committees, educational opportunities, etc. as requested/required.

  • Some travel may be required and will be determined based upon client needs and expectations.

  • Understands and delivers all jobs at an established gross profit margin to meet our company goal.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 4 Year college degree preferred. (5 years plus industry experience will be considered without college degree)

  • Experience managing projects of similar size and scope that the company currently targets.

  • At least five years of increasingly responsible experience in the powder coating field.

  • Supervisory/management experience

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • The willingness to do whatever it takes to meet said obligations.
