Job description

Description

The credit analyst role is critical to the evaluation of commercial, consumer and mortgage credits. The analysis provided is relied upon by loan officers, senior leadership and the board of directors in review of loans for approval and the ongoing overall quality review of the loan portfolio. 


Duties and Responsibilities

Underwrite and recommend disposition of credit requests of the Bank in specific written form and in compliance with Bank policies after reviewing all available sources of financial, credit and collateral information.

Adhere to Bank loan policy and assist in the application, review, and modification thereof.  

Review financial and collateral data on existing borrowing relationships, analyzing risk factors for annual portfolio reviews.

Complete systematic loan file document review of new loans 

Control and execute the ordering of real estate appraisals to ensure that appraisal reports are requested per the scope required, and that peripheral requirements are also completed. (Flood Determinations, Environmental Issues, etc.)

Review real estate appraisal reports to ensure appraisal scope was adequate and that the methods utilized are adequately supported by the report details.

Maintain the commercial loan financial monitoring system on an ongoing basis so that financial information and other loan requirements are obtained and/or completed to ensure the commercial loan files are up-to-date.

Coordinate and serve as liaison with external contracted third party reviewer.   

Maintain customer confidence and protect Bank operations by keeping information confidential. 

Interact with Lenders in an effective manner. 

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Solid understanding of typical commercial loan structures and underwriting, including global cash flow analysis

Ability to analyze and underwrite using personal and business tax returns

Background in commercial real estate and commercial and industrial underwriting

Willingness to assist other credit analysts and loan officers

Understanding of Bank Regulations

Organization and time management

Professionalism and confidentiality

Strong verbal and written communications skills

Computer literacy (Word and Excel)

Previous experience using a financial spreading software


Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or relevant work experience. 

Minimum 2-3 years of commercial credit underwriting experience is required.
