Job description

Purpose of Position: A Saw Operator sets up and operates a metal cutting band saw to cut metal, brass, and aluminum workpieces according to specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
โ€ข Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, or patterns to determine equipment set-up, procedures to be used, or specifications of final products.
โ€ข Set up and operate metal cutting band saws.
โ€ข Obtain and transfer material to designated machine areas manually, with a hoist or overhead crane.
โ€ข Install saw blades and set blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation.
โ€ข Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpieces, using hand tools and measuring devices.
โ€ข Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed; measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
โ€ข Set up and operate grinding and related tools that remove burrs from part surfaces.
Qualifications:
โ€ข High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
โ€ข 0-2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
โ€ข Ability to use common power tools and equipment in accordance with safe working practices to achieve the work outcome.
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret blue prints, shop drawings, etc. is a plus.
โ€ข Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
