Job description

Trim saw Operator is responsible for leading and driving the trimming activities in the plant with an emphasis on creating and maintaining a safe working environment and maintaining and exceeding customer quality requirements. The Trim saw Operator will be responsible for problem solving equipment and will be responsible for a large amount of inventory. Sets up and stages the Trim saw by scanning tickets barcodes (line item on order) into computer. Determines how to set-up/adjust guides on saw to maintain margins for build. Makes manual adjustments when necessary to meet or hold tolerances. Tests door set-up and barcode printer. Runs orders per production schedules. Changes trim blades, sanding belts, etc. Calibrates the trim saw. Performs regular quality checks and measurements per order # line # before and after door sizing. Verifies accuracy and legibility of Jeta mark print. Performs TPM functions. High level of responsibility; incorrect operation can result in large quantities of damaged product that results in financial impacts to repair machinery/tooling; high impact to COQ and can cause delays in customer shipment. Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Lockout/tagout certified (training will be done on site).
  • Strong aptitude in measurement calculations and mechanical workings.
  • Able to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to record downtime.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the trim saw machine, including maintenance, blade changes, mechanical understanding, printer maintenance, order tracking process, door/ customer quality specs, door types, core types, Masterpack, knowledge of other positions including feeding the saw and catching the doors.
  • Operates computer controlled trim saw.
  • Able to retain high level of information.
  • Reads/interprets schedules/tickets.
  • Performs quality checks.
  • Performs safety checks including guards and tooling, tooling changes and sanding belt changes.
  • Must be able to use multiple hand tools including wrenches, mallet.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision and to be self-motivated.
  • Must be a regular, full-time employee with at least 6 months in current position. - (Once Fort Mill Masonite has 6 months of service this will apply to all postings)

Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand.
  • The employee is frequently required to perform repetitive motions.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to feel or handle, manually slide and flip cores, and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; and up to 80 lbs with assistance and is frequently required to bend, twist, stoop, walk, pull, push, reach, and ability to so at a fast pace.
  • Ability to handle multiple parts and to stand throughout entirety of shift.
  • The employee will be working in a facility with a high level of forklift traffic.
  • Intense and high level of concentration to focus on product quality and productivity.
  • Strong eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to work in a mildly controlled environment - can expect some cold and heat during extreme weather conditions, with a significant amount of dust.
  • Good attendance and ability to work overtime and weekends when circumstances and workload requires, as assigned by management.
