Position Title: Middle School Global Studies and Science Teacher
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer and Principal
Term: Ten (10) month position, salaried

POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Middle School Global Studies and Science Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
  • Designing rigorous, PA Core standards-aligned lessons based on the standards for Global Studies and Science practice and content
  • Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving children feedback on completed work to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
  • Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects
  • Maintaining positive relationships with scholars, parents, coworkers and supervisors
  • Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment
  • Working with scholars in both small groups and large groups
  • Tracking and evaluating student academic progress
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Identify the educational needs of scholars and altering instruction to meet student needs
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual scholar needs. Meet with parents during scheduled conferences during the school year.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required in field of education
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES It is preferred that the middle school English Language Arts teacher have a current teaching license (Grades 4-8 Social Studies/Science)
COMPENSATION
Initial salary offers for this position range from $50,000 - $75,000. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
