Job description

Job Description We are seeking a certified Axway SecureTransport expert to lead a focused, time-bound effort to stabilize, simplify, and improve the reliability of our SecureTransport managed file transfer (MFT) environment. SecureTransport underpins business-critical, partner-facing and internal file exchange across the organization. Over time the deployment has accumulated configuration drift, undocumented customizations, and operational fragility that now represent an availability and audit risk.

The consultant's mandate is to "unwind" that complexity - rationalizing the deployment back to a supportable, well-documented, Axway-aligned baseline - and to materially improve availability, recoverability, and operational confidence in the platform before the engagement closes. Knowledge transfer to internal staff is an explicit goal, so the environment is fully supportable in-house at handover. Mandate & Objectives Assess the SecureTransport estate end to end and produce a clear, evidenced picture of what exists, what is in use, and what carries risk.

Reduce accumulated technical debt: remediate brittle customizations, orphaned transfer accounts and routes, unsupported versions, and configuration drift. Improve reliability, resilience, and recoverability - high-availability posture, failover behavior, backup/restore, and DR readiness. Re-establish a documented, supportable operating baseline aligned to Axway reference architecture and best practice.

Transfer knowledge to internal infrastructure staff so the platform is fully supportable in-house at the end of the engagement. Key Responsibilities Perform a comprehensive health and architecture review of the SecureTransport environment, including Edge/DMZ proxy configuration, server farms/clustering, certificates and keys, transfer sites and routes, user/account provisioning, protocol setup, and downstream/upstream dependencies. Identify single points of failure, anti-patterns, end-of-life and version-currency exposure, and root causes of recurring incidents or instability.

Define and execute a remediation roadmap to simplify the deployment, eliminate fragility, and align to Axway-supported reference architecture. Improve high-availability and disaster-recovery configuration; validate failover, backup, and restore procedures through tested runbooks. Review and harden the DMZ/perimeter posture, including the SecureTransport Edge relay, so there are no unnecessary inbound exposures and the secure relay pattern is correctly implemented.

Patch, upgrade, or re-platform components as needed to reach a supported, stable baseline; review containerized deployment options where appropriate. Establish proactive monitoring, alerting, and SLA visibility for transfer flows, including failed-transfer and anomaly detection. Produce clear documentation: as-is and target-state architecture, configuration standards, operational runbooks, and a prioritized recommendations register.

Lead structured knowledge transfer and shadowing with the internal team throughout the engagement. Required Qualifications Current Axway certification in SecureTransport (Axway University / SecureTransport product-line certification). Certification will be validated as part of selection.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on, production experience working directly with Axway SecureTransport - deployment, configuration, clustering, upgrade, and troubleshooting. Demonstrated track record stabilizing and remediating troubled, over-complicated, or under-documented SecureTransport environments. Deep working knowledge of secure file transfer concepts: SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, and PeSIT where applicable; PKI and certificate/key lifecycle management; partner and account onboarding.

Strong experience with high availability, disaster recovery, and operational resilience design for enterprise MFT platforms. Proficiency in the underlying platform layer: Linux administration, networking, DMZ and secure-relay perimeter patterns, and the supporting database. Excellent documentation and knowledge-transfer ability; able to leave the environment fully supportable by internal staff.

Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in financial services or another regulated, high-availability environment. Familiarity with containerized SecureTransport deployment and with related Axway components (e.g. Transfer CFT, Sentinel for monitoring) in a mixed estate

Experience integrating SecureTransport with enterprise monitoring, scheduling/automation, and ITSM tooling. Engagement Terms 6-month fixed term, with extension possible by mutual agreement. Success is measured by a stable, documented, in-house-supportable SecureTransport platform with demonstrably improved reliability and reduced incident volume.

Axway SecureTransport certification and client references will be validated as part of the selection process.
