Job description

Aviation Assistant Project Manager

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking an Aviation Assistant Project Manager to join our Facilities Sector. The ideal candidate will report to the assigned Senior Project Manager and is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and operational interfaces of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) and specialty systems design and construction activities within an assigned Terminal Development and Improvement Program (TDIP) project. The Aviation Assistant Project Manager manages the technical scope, cost, schedule, and performance of MEPF systems and building infrastructure throughout design and construction. This role ensures the development and implementation of design coordination, installation, and turnover plans, while proactively managing risks associated with MEPF system installation, startup, and operational impacts to existing facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary technical liaison for MEPF systems
  • Manage MEPF design scope and ensure alignment with operational requirements
  • Lead procurement and technical evaluation of consultants, contractors, and vendors
  • Oversee installation, testing, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and resource plans
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to minimize operational disruptions
  • Identify and resolve technical, constructability, and integration challenges
  • Conduct field investigations and infrastructure assessments
  • Maintain documentation for design criteria, submittals, testing, and commissioning records
  • Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and technical change proposals
  • Oversight Responsibilities
    • Mechanical and electrical codes
    • Fire and life safety systems
    • Energy and sustainability standards
    • Airport operational requirements
    • Coordinate system shutdowns, tie-ins, and phasing plans
    • Evaluate contractor performance and approve pay applications
    • Prepare technical progress and readiness reports
  • Closeout Responsibilities:
    • As-built documentation
    • O&M manuals
    • Training coordination
    • Warranty tracking
Qualifications
  • 10+ years managing MEP systems design and construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or other related technical field (required)
  • Master's degree (preferred)
  • Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc. or any other relevant professional licensure and/or certifications
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure (airport experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated coordination of MEPF and controls systems
  • Experience supporting commissioning and system turnover
