What is an AV Intern?

An AV Intern is a student or entry-level professional who assists with audio-visual (AV) operations, such as setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment used for presentations, events, or broadcasts. They typically work under the supervision of experienced AV technicians or managers, gaining hands-on experience with sound systems, projectors, lighting, and video recording devices. To thrive as an AV Intern, you need a basic understanding of audio-visual technology, troubleshooting skills, and often a relevant degree or coursework in media, communications, or engineering. Familiarity with AV equipment such as projectors, microphones, mixing consoles, and software like Zoom, Crestron, or Adobe Premiere is typically required. Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and effective communication help you excel in supporting technical setups and client interactions. These skills and qualities ensure seamless event execution, minimize technical issues, and provide valuable hands-on experience in the AV industry.
