Position Title: AV/VTC Infrastructure Technician – SkillBridge Intern

Program Type: DoD SkillBridge Internship (Unpaid Training Opportunity)

Location: Hawaii – Various locations including COMPACFLT, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, and Tech Center project sites.

Clearance Required: Secret (preferred) or ability to obtain base access

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Duration: 10 weeks (Full-time, 400 hours total)

GC Associates is offering a 10-week SkillBridge internship opportunity for transitioning service members interested in gaining real-world experience in the Audio-Visual (AV) and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) industry. As an AV/VTC Infrastructure Technician Intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals supporting commercial and DoD projects. This hands-on role provides structured learning through site visits, mentorship, and industry-recognized online training modules.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with AV and VTC system installations, maintenance, and system testing
  • Pull, label, dress, and terminate cabling (Layer 1 infrastructure tasks).
  • Participate in daily system operations and troubleshooting at federal sites
  • Set up mock systems in the lab for testing, configuration, and documentation
  • Complete company orientation, safety training, and AV fundamentals modules
  • Work in compliance with base access procedures, site safety, and contractor standards
  • Attend live VTC events and gain experience with AV system support and operations
  • Participate in certifications and e-learning through AVIXA, Kramer, Extron, Dante, and more.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain foundational knowledge of AV industry standards and tools that can support future employment in the AV industry
  • Understand the operation of VTC systems and network-based AV components
