Job Purpose: The High-End Automotive Painter will be responsible for preparing and painting our pontoon to the highest standards of quality. This role requires a master-level skill set in all aspects of automotive painting, from meticulous surface preparation to flawless, show-quality finishes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of modern paint systems, color matching, and restoration techniques, and be dedicated to delivering an unparalleled level of finish.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly clean, sand, and mask boats to prepare for painting.
  • Perform bodywork, filler application, and block sanding to create a perfectly flat and smooth surface.
  • Apply primers, sealers, and base coats with precision and consistency.
  • Operate and maintain a wide variety of painting equipment, including spray guns, airbrushes, and paint booths.
  • Apply multi-stage paint systems, including base coat, clear coat, and custom colors, with an expert hand.
  • Achieve a consistently flawless, glass-like finish with no imperfections (dust, orange peel, runs, etc.).
  • Expertly perform color matching, including mixing custom colors and pearl effects.
  • Apply intricate designs, stripes, and custom graphics as required.
  • Wet sand and buff painted surfaces to a mirror finish.
  • Perform meticulous, detailed work to ensure a perfect final product.
  • Inspect all work for quality and consistency and address any imperfections.
  • Work closely with the boat technicians and supervisor to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Mentor and assist junior painters as needed.
  • Document all work performed and maintain accurate records of materials used.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Master-level proficiency in all aspects of automotive paint preparation, application, and finishing.
  • Expert knowledge of modern automotive paint systems (PPG and Axalta Products).
  • Proficient in the use of various sanding and buffing tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with automotive body fillers and repair techniques.
  • An unwavering commitment to precision and an obsessive eye for detail.
  • Ability to work on highly complex and demanding projects.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for high-end automobiles and the art of automotive refinishing.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as an automotive painter, with a strong portfolio of high-end and show-quality work.
  • Proven experience working on luxury, exotic, or classic cars (e.g., Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, etc.).
  • Painting Test Required during the interview.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity and a steady hand are essential.
  • Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear respirator.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions, a normal office environment or factory environment that is not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment. 

Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves, and protective garments.
