An autism specialist provides one-on-one care to children with autism or other disorders on the autism spectrum. As an autism specialist, your duties include devising assessments, developing a care regimen with the child and parents, discussing treatment options with physicians and other behavioral health experts, and providing care to the child. You are often required to write reports and analysis about the progress of the children, make updates to their case files, and recommend new treatments or approaches to improve mental and physical health outcomes.
