An Autism Tutor supports individuals with autism by providing personalized academic and behavioral assistance. Tutors often work in schools, homes, or therapy centers, collaborating with parents and professionals to create individualized education plans. Their goal is to improve communication, social skills, and academic progress in a supportive environment.
As an Autism Tutor, your day often involves providing one-on-one or small group instruction tailored to each student's individualized learning plan. You may use specialized teaching methods, adaptive technology, or visual supports to help students develop academic, social, and communication skills. Collaboration with parents, teachers, or therapists is usually an important part of the role to ensure continuity and effectiveness of interventions. Responsibilities
Offerone-on-one developmental and behavioral supportto children aged 2-6 in a clinic environment, guided by science-backed, naturalistic therapeutic methods
Implement intervention planscrafted by expert clinicians in behavior analysis, speech, and occupational therapy
Team up with the child's healthcare professionals to provide consistent, high-quality care
Qualifications
Previous experience with children aged 2-6, ideally in a professional capacity
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Computer and tablet literacy
Must have reliable transportation to both training location and local center. Punctuality isessential
Must be able to meet the following physical requirements: sit and stand frequently, shift positions quickly, lift up to 50 lbs., sit/kneel on the floor for extended periods of time, sit in a chair, stand, walk, and occasionally run short distances to catch up with a client
High school diploma, or equivalent, is required (as verified by resume, application, or BACB attestation for RBT certification).Preference for college graduates or people pursuing a college degree.
