Work Environment 

This is an on-site leadership role within a luxury hotel or resort where Five-Star AudioVisual operates as an embedded audiovisual partner. Directors work closely with hotel leadership, sales, catering, and event teams to ensure events run smoothly from planning through execution. You represent both Five-Star AudioVisual and the hotel with professionalism, technical confidence, and hospitality-first service. 

Reports to: Director, AudioVisual 

Position Summary 

The Director of Sales leads Five-Star AudioVisual’s sales efforts at an assigned hotel or resort, serving as a strategic partner to clients and hotel stakeholders. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, cultivating strong relationships, and ensuring client satisfaction through consultative planning and collaboration with operations and production teams. 

The Director of Sales balances proactive selling with thoughtful service, ensuring events are properly scoped, sold, and supported for flawless execution. 

Key Responsibilities 

Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth 

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve property-level revenue and profitability goals 

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive outreach and relationship development 

  • Partner with hotel sales and catering teams to support group business and maximize AV revenue 

  • Forecast sales performance and track key metrics in collaboration with property and regional leadership 

Client Relationships & Consultation 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding event goals and recommending appropriate AV solutions 

  • Conduct client consultations, site visits, and pre-conference meetings 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with planners, repeat clients, and hotel partners 

  • Confidently handle objections and differentiate Five-Star’s value from competitors 

Event Sales & Execution Support 

  • Oversee the event sales process from proposal through handoff to operations and production teams 

  • Ensure proposals are accurate, clear, and aligned with client expectations and technical requirements 

  • Collaborate closely with operations and production leadership to ensure events are properly planned and executed 

  • Remain engaged throughout the event lifecycle to support client satisfaction 

Team Leadership & Collaboration 

  • Lead, mentor, and support property-level sales and production team members 

  • Promote a collaborative approach between sales, operations, and hotel partners 

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to support performance and professional growth 

Professional Representation 

  • Represent Five-Star AudioVisual with professionalism, confidence, and hospitality-first service 

  • Maintain a polished image consistent with Five-Star and hotel standards 

  • Uphold company values, policies, and service expectations 

  • Proven experience in customer service and relationship management with a strong focus on client satisfaction 
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment 

  • Consultative sales approach with the ability to actively listen and align solutions to client needs 

  • In-depth understanding of the local market and competitive landscape

Experience & Education 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 

  • Minimum of 4+ years of sales experience, ideally within audiovisual, event technology, hospitality, or a related field 

  • Proven track record of building long-term client relationships and delivering exceptional service 

  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship management skills 

Technical Knowledge 
  • Audio: Microphones, speakers, sound systems, mixers, and related components 

  • Video: LCD, LED, projectors, screens, and monitors 

  • Lighting: Décor lighting, stage lighting, traditional and intelligent fixtures, and basic lighting kits 

  • Computers: Proficient in both PC and Mac environments with strong software skills
