Overview
Tantor Media, a division of RBmedia, is one of the largest audio book publishers in the World. Tantor Media has over 20 years of experience in the audio market. Tantor Media currently has an opening for a Publications Operations Manager. The Publications Operations Manager must be able to conduct work in the state of CT including out of the Tantor Media headquarters in Old Saybrook, CT. This is a hybrid position based in the state of Connecticut. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business.
This is a full-time, exempt position and will report directly to the Director of Production.
Position Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to)
  • The primary responsibility for this role is to support the Director of Production with the objective of overseeing a portion of the Production staff, collaborating with key Leadership team members on strategic initiatives.
  • 50% of time: Production Department leadership
    • Direct reports to include Graphic Design Leadership and Pre-Production Leadership.
    • Report on Key Performance Indicators for budgetary and timeliness goals.
    • Analyze bills/invoice spending patterns for respective departments.
    • Track artwork asset delivery metrics weekly.
      • Troubleshoot external communication issues with Graphic Design Leadership and internal/external parties.
    • Serve as primary Production contact for administrative tracking and sharing information on audiobook projects that include bonus content (both companion PDFs and audio/music).
    • Utilize creative and diplomatic solutions to difficult projects/escalated situations needing resolution.
  • 25% of time: Integration of recently acquired company
    • Core member of Tantor Leadership team focused on Company Integration.
    • Develop project management schedules with Core Integration team.
    • Evaluate and deliver continuous improvement initiatives through the integration process.
    • Familiarize with Tantor process flows, policies, and procedures, as well as those of the recently acquired company.
    • Identify areas for leveraging and sharing of best practices.
  • 25% of time: Strategic Initiative Support
    • Key resource for catalog ingestion planning and delegation, with Production Leadership.
    • Key resource for documentation on higher-level projects.

Qualifications
  • 4-year degree in Business, Publishing, Media, or other related fields, or experience in audiobook/publishing field or media/production.
  • Project Planning and Project Documentation experience.
  • PMI certification preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience in the areas of project support, production coordination, or related administrative fields.
  • Must be able to work well cross-functionally across all platforms.
  • Motivated self-starter with a constant desire to meet and exceed goals.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with internal departments and external contacts (publishers, industry professionals - all stakeholders). using diplomacy and creative solutions when problem-solving.
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment and to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong focus and multitasking ability, including ability to sit and read for 8 consecutive hours per day.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
