The West Side YMCA is seeking an Assistant Business Manager. The Assistant Business Manager, under the supervision of theBusiness Manager, will provide leadership for the branch's day-to-day businessfunctions at the West Side YMCA. Majorresponsibilities include procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable,budgeting, payroll, human resources, project management, and the generalledger. In addition, the Assistant Business Manager will track thefinancial performance for all fee-based and government-fundedcontracts. They will also partner with the Business Manager to supervise and manage the branch's budget.
Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Business Manager, manage the business functions of the branch.
    • Develop, track, and control the branch budget in accordance with Association guidelines.
    • Ensure financial performance indicators are being met.
    • Perform regular analysis of branch performance by department to identify cost savings or untapped revenue opportunities.
    • Work with all internal department heads in relation to individual departments' payroll, expenses, and revenues.
    • Cash management includes daily reconciliation, bank deposits, and credit card reconciliation.
    • Develop and implement effective revenue collection procedures.
    • Resolve government and other grant billing reconciling items in a timely manner.
    • Provide support with strategic planning activities and competitive market analysis.
    • Enforce organizational policies to ensure internal controls are maintained.
    • Ensure contractual compliance with government and other funding sources.
    • Enforce the Association's purchasing and procurement policies
  • Supervise the branch's Human Resources Functions. Will handle HR responsibilities in the HR Coordinator's absence.
  • Meet with all Department Heads on their budgets, forecasts, and work on government reports.
  • Support the Business Manager in recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of all business office staff.
  • Participate as an active member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Assist in providing leadership to broaden efforts, including the Annual Support/Capital Campaigns.
  • Staff liaison to the Branch Finance Committee, the Association Business Cabinet, and the Association HR Cabinet.
  • Other activities and duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience required. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is a plus.
  • One (1) year of experience in Business Financial Management and Human Resources. Two (2+) years of experience in Business Financial Management is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience using Oracle, Salesforce, AS400, ADP Time and Attendance, and Workday desired, but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Experience in the Not-For-Profit field is a plus.
  • Priorsupervision experience desired, but not essential.
