Job description

Description
The Associate Technical Consultant will be responsible for leading early studies, technology evaluations and overall project development initiatives through application of experience in design and technology implementation. The Associate Technical Consultant (Process Architect) will be responsible for managing and coordinating the technical process activities associated with assigned projects, technologies and/or clients.
  • Manage the technical direction, work assignments, and mentoring to other professionals as assigned to support the project development and delivery efforts across a portfolio of projects.
  • Manage client and team relationships on multiple assigned projects to help ensure that the design basis is technically sound and meets the client project objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight of assigned projects from early Front-End Planning (FEP) through detail design and construction.
  • Plan, organize and direct the execution of feasibility studies, technology evaluations, and conceptual designs as required to support client projects or initiatives.
  • Actively maintain current knowledge and understanding of market trends, and technologies.
  • Provide periodic updates to division management in support of strategic initiatives, as well as marketing and sales efforts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Identify opportunities and support business development efforts to prepare submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiations, and related activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and representation of the company through active participation in conferences and technical seminars, including activities such as writing papers, delivering presentations and/or supporting conference marketing initiatives and events.
  • Coach and mentor sales pursuits and proposal development teams.
  • Mentor project staff by providing guidance, instructions and expert level technical advice.
  • Manage and support the quality review process for assigned projects, including the feasibility or soundness of proposed plans.
  • Manage work activities of technical personnel in the production of project design deliverables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Science, Construction or related degree and 13 years of relevant experience required.
  • Recognized internally and externally as a technical resource for a process, equipment or technology.
  • Demonstrated network of external colleagues and vendors within their chosen area(s) of expertise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state-of-the-art technology applied to their chosen area(s) of expertise.
  • Expert computer skills using industry relevant software.
  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management and clients.
  • Expert written and oral communications skills
  • Expert critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Capable of independently solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with existing clients and develop business opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with equipment vendors.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with contractors, co-workers, and other professionals.
  • The ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
  • Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
