JOB SUMMARY
Under direction of the classroom teacher, the ALC Behavioral and Academic Coach provides primary support to the classroom teacher in reinforcing and monitoring the daily educational program and behavior plans for students with serious emotional disturbances, learning disabilities, and other varied disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma required - Associate Degree or higher preferred
  • ODE License for Educational Aide or ability to obtain license
  • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
  • Certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) preferred
  • Experience with Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) preferred.

KSAs
• Knowledge of Ohio Standards for the Education of Students with Disabilities
• Knowledge of classroom management technique including PBIS and CPI
• Ability to recognize and react appropriately to individual needs of students
• Ability to establish effective relationships with students with a wide range of physical and intellectual capabilities
• Ability to deal calmly and effectively with student behavior problems
• Ability to restrain students over 150 lbs
• Ability to react quickly to student behavior (e.g. run, get out of seat quickly)
• Ability to use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; proficient in computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Docs)
• Ability to maintain accurate student records
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA requirements
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, co-workers, administrators, and public
• Ability to work with team to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate program progress and implement changes
• Ability to model ethical principles and democratic ideals for students and the community
