The Engineering Technician will support new product development teams through test development, data analysis and competitor benchmarking. You will configure engines, generators and components for testing, record data, troubleshoot and ensure performance meets Kohler's high standards. As a Technician III you will demonstrate initiative improving the product and test systems, as well as take self-directed actions in your role.
This is fully onsite role based in Sheboygan, Wisconsin
Responsibilities:
Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of generators / engines, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
Analyze, interpret, document, and communicate test results.
Assist in the development of new test set-ups and test procedures.
Perform basic preventive maintenance and 5S of test cells, workstation, test equipment.
  • Demonstrate technical competency and participate in the continuous improvement process as it relates to your role.

  • Manage Lab space, tools, components, work area, test cells.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, making product, system, and process improvement recommendations.

Requirements:
  • 3-5 years' experience working in a test environment preferred. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude associated with engine or generator development Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred.

  • Ability to provide a strong individual contribution in the context of achieving team goals and deadlines.

  • Ability to provide technical leadership by assisting others in troubleshooting, answering questions, and determining root cause.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with limited direction and information.

  • Experience with hardware and software programming a plus.

  • Fabrication experience and use of hand tools helpful.

  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized, customer focused, driven to improve and grow.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work and make decisions.
