Job Summary

As a member of the Technology Operations Team, the Lead Infrastructure Engineer role performs work with a high degree of latitude, handling the most complex issues. The Lead Infrastructure Engineer provides expertiseand direction and performs resolution activities. They are evangelists for automation, and work continuously to automate our cloud environment. The Lead Infrastructure Engineer troubleshoots production issues, responds to incidents and lead collaborative efforts to improve system resiliency and reliability. You will be instrumental in optimizing our development pipeline, leveraging our core technologies and will enhance our development lifecycle through robust automation and efficient operational processes.

Essential Job Functions

         Understand the requirements of the Technology organization and work with architects to plan out the technical roadmap for the immediate future and long-term pursuits.

         Design, Build and implement automated environments using Kubernetes, ensuring scalable, efficient, and resilient orchestration of containerized applications.

         Develop, maintain, and optimize Terraform scripts to automate the provisioning and management of Azure infrastructure, aligning with the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.

         Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to understand their needs, ensuring the operational infrastructure supports fast-paced development cycles and high-quality output.

         Automate monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues, minimizing downtime and maintaining high availability.

         Implement security automation, ensuring continuous compliance with industry standards and protection against emerging threats.

         Responsible for implemention and management of cloud infrastructure and network including performing research on production issues.

         Partner with architects and designers in standardizing and automating system implementation and configuration.

         Analyze, execute, and streamline Infrastructure Engineering practices.

         Work closely with the platform engineering to design, deliver, and manage our services with high resiliency, availability, and performance.

         Partner with network and security teams to implement structure, connectivity, and security of our cloud environments.

         Perform incident resolution and root cause analysis of critical outages. Implement solutions to systematic failures. Provide alert response support, including after hours.

         Provide subject matter expertise and ability to confidently resolve complex issues with minimal escalation.

         Provide technical leadership to Infrastructure Engineering group.

         Implement monitoring, develop automated provisioning, and develop self-healing automation.

         Provide reporting and management information on infrastructure performance and operational KPIs.

         Document the environments and processes that support our products.

Position Requirements

         Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required; Computer Science or Engineering preferred.

         Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience.

         5+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services. Azure/AWS associate or higher-level certification preferred.

         5+ years building operational systems for custom software applications.

         Possess expert knowledge of subject matter including Kubernetes, Event Bus architecture, Infrastructure as Code, and automation. They require no assistance to complete tasks, provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group and may act as a lead or first-level supervisor.

         Expert knowledge of containers/orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Services (EKS), etc.

         Expert in continuous integration and delivery services including: GitLab, GitHub Actions, etc.

         Expert in using Terraform and other Infrastructure-As-Code (IAC) tools.

         Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Chef, Packer, Puppet, etc.

         Mastery with monitoring tools such as New Relic, Azure Insights, AWS CloudWatch, etc.

         Expertise with PowerShell, Python, and YAML.

         Mastery of Kafka event bus.

         Achievement with developing in .Net or node.js is preferred.

         Expert Linux-based systems administration skills in a cloud environment.

         Mastery in managing IAM accounts and policies.

         Expertise with Rest and GraphQL.
