Your responsibilities include:

GEA Flow Components, part of the Equipment Sales Group of GEA North America, consists of four product lines : Hygienic valves and components, Aseptic valves and components, Cleaning Technology and Hygienic Pumps. Operating in the food, dairy, beverage, brewing and pharmaceutical processing industries, the company has an opportunity within its technical application and sales operations.

The Technical Sales Engineer position is responsible for the inside technical support of the four product lines above.

Reporting to the Manager of Technical Sales Engineering, the principle activities include :

  • Direct Customer Support of all technical and proposal enquiries for the FLC product lines including Hygienic Valves, Aseptic Valves, Hygienic Pumps and Cleaning Technology
  • Implement Fluid Dynamics concepts to size optimal pumps, valves and cleaners for specific hygienic applications and systems
  • Determine special product specifications by sizing control valves, safety valves, vacuum valves, cleaners, pig systems, and expansion compensators
  • Apply correct communication or control modules to the flow component products to allow proper integration into the customer’s overall system design
  • Able to use product sizing and selection software such as Hy5 and Configit to choose pump and valve products
  • Work in close contact with our factories in Europe and our US fabricators
  • Arrange special product transportation and logistics as required by customers
  • Work with the Regional Sales Managers and Product Managers to generate and manage customer proposals and orders for the US market
  • Apply product and industry knowledge to make value-added proposals to customers when preparing quotations
  • Able to utilize SAP-PEM system software for quoting, order entry, creating purchase orders and order confirmations, and order invoicing.
  • Conduct occasional product warranty evaluation of returned products and field retrofit of components
  • Collaborate with GEA Product Engineering to develop and apply product selection and quoting tools in conjunction with sales channel partners

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • 2-5 yrs. experience in application engineering and technical sales support activities
  • Associates degree
  • Understanding of Fluid Dynamics and related industry practices
  • A knowledge of sanitary liquid processing equipment and processes
  • Specific technical knowledge of GEA Flow Components hygienic and aseptic products
  • Familiarity with solenoid control technology and communication protocols
  • Knowledge of Hy5 and Configit product sizing and selection software
  • Understanding of inventory management practices, including safety stock and lead time planning
  • Knowledge with pricing strategy, sales channels and discounting practice
  • Understanding of cost accounting principles and invoicing practices
  • Familiarity of importing logistics, including currency exchange rates, shipment tracking, customs
  • Computer skills: experience with SAP-PEM, Microsoft Office and inventory management processes is necessary
  • Experience working with OEM factories, fabrication contractors, and automation suppliers is desirable
