Position: Permit Coordinator
Location: Sullivan, IL (Onsite)

Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, organized, and hard-working individual to help with obtaining permits from municipalities for utility work. This role would include assisting with permits for construction projects, as well as project management duties such as pushing projects forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with different municipalities to obtain permits
- Needs to be an excellent communicator, organized, and extremely detail oriented
- Will be responsible for pushing projects forward, following up with project managers, and reporting to construction crews in order to avoid delays in construction
- Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office experience is a plus as this job will include emailing/editing documents and spreadsheets.
Education
- Associate degree in business administration, or a related field
Experience
- 2+ years in a role involving government/municipal interaction, permitting, right-of-way work, or construction/utility administration strongly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft programs and Adobe Suite
- Experience tracking multiple open items or deadlines at once (e.g., project coordinator, dispatcher, paralegal, or similar background) also considered
Essential Skills amp; Competencies
- Proactive follow-up: initiates repeated contact with municipal offices without being prompted, and does not let a stalled request sit unaddressed
- Able to track 10-20+ open permits across multiple jurisdictions at once without losing status
- High tolerance for bureaucracy: stays calm and persistent when government offices are slow, unresponsive, or inconsistent
- Strong attention to detail on paperwork, since an error on a permit application can cost weeks in delay
- Comfortable reading basic construction or utility plans/maps (helpful, not required)
- Able to adjust communication style for different audiences: formal with a municipal clerk, technical with an engineer, direct with a construction crew
- Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
Schedule
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week
- Standard business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
