Job Summary
The Dr. Arnoldo De León Department of History at Angelo State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Latin American history beginning Spring Term of 2027. Applicants with teaching fields in Mexican history and U.S. Mexico Borderlands History are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate should be able to teach an array of upper division courses in Latin American, Mexican, and U.S. Mexico Borderlands history, as well as both halves of the U.S. history survey. Applicants must have a PhD in history or a closely related field at the time of employment.
Angelo State University is part of the Texas Tech University system. We are located in the heart of West Texas in the town of San Angelo.
Essential Duties
The successful candidate is expected to be devoted to quality teaching with clear, high standards and to be an active member of Angelo State's academic community. A tenure-track assistant professor of History is expected to teach four courses a semester, typically three sections of the U.S. survey (both halves) and one advanced course. Tenure-track faculty are also expected to be engaged professionally with their disciplines.
