Job description

ABOUT SYNERCOMM:
SynerComm is a leading Value-Added Reseller (VAR) specializing in cybersecurity and network infrastructure. Our team partners with top-tier vendors to deliver end-to-end professional services-including design, implementation, and ongoing support-to secure and optimize critical IT environments for enterprises and public-sector organizations.
SynerComm's fast-paced, agile approach offers unique career opportunities with high autonomy in a dynamic and collaborative environment. We offer the close-knit culture of a family-oriented organization combined with the resources and stability of a large-scale enterprise, including full benefits and a competitive compensation package.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Consulting Engineer is a billable consulting engineering role responsible for designing, building, and supporting production network and security infrastructure for enterprise clients. This is not a pre-sales or Sales Engineer role. Success is measured by delivery quality, utilization, and client outcomes-not by sales support, revenue targets, or deal closure.
This is a hands-on professional services position that requires deep technical expertise, strong ownership, and the ability to lead customers through complex implementations from design through production support. Ideal candidates thrive in real-world engineering scenarios where architectures must be built, integrated, tested, and supported in production environments.
This role works closely with customers, internal engineering teams, and sales stakeholders, consistently representing SynerComm's brand through professionalism, technical excellence, and a solution-oriented mindset.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery & Technical Execution
โ€ข Deliver professional services for the design, development, implementation, and support of full-stack network and security solutions.
โ€ข Provide scheduled and ad hoc operational support to customers across a wide range of networking and security technologies.
โ€ข Participate as an individual contributor and as part of project teams on complex customer engagements.
โ€ข Develop clear, effective technical documentation and present solutions to customer technical audiences.
Customer Engagement & Collaboration
โ€ข Work directly with customers at all organizational levels, in person and remotely, using a variety of communication tools and methods.
โ€ข Act as a trusted technical advisor, translating customer challenges into practical, scalable solutions.
โ€ข Consistently deliver a high-quality customer experience aligned with SynerComm's brand and values.
Pre-Sales & Solution Development
โ€ข Support sales and pre-sales efforts through technical discussions, labs, proofs of concept (POCs), and recommended architectures.
โ€ข Engage customers in technical discovery, solution scoping, and validation of requirements.
โ€ข Assist with market development events and customer-facing technical presentations as needed.
Continuous Development
โ€ข Obtain and maintain associate-, professional-, and expert-level technical certifications relevant to SynerComm's portfolio.
โ€ข Build, maintain, and enhance physical and virtual demonstration labs for networking and security solutions.
โ€ข Actively pursue ongoing technical, product, and professional development to stay current with evolving technologies.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience, as determined by SynerComm.
โ€ข 7+ years of experience in service provider, VAR, MSP, or large enterprise IT environments.
โ€ข 5+ years of hands-on experience with network security and security control solutions.
โ€ข Strong experience delivering professional services in enterprise network and security environments.
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
Technical Experience & Skills
โ€ข Network infrastructure expertise including routing, switching, wireless, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and Internet connectivity.
โ€ข Experience with security frameworks and programs such as CIS Controls, NIST 800-53, or similar standards.
โ€ข Hands-on experience implementing and supporting security controls across network, endpoint, identity, email, and data domains.
โ€ข Experience with identity and access management technologies including Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML, and related platforms.
โ€ข Experience implementing, managing, or supporting cloud services in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
โ€ข Experience with DNS, DHCP, IP address management, and general network operations.
โ€ข Familiarity with scripting or automation for deployment, monitoring, or operational efficiency.
โ€ข Experience with incident response, threat hunting, or security operations is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Industry-recognized network and security certifications (e.g., Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, Juniper, HPE, or equivalent).
โ€ข Experience serving as a lead technical contributor or technical project lead on customer engagements.
โ€ข Demonstrated history of self-driven learning, problem-solving, and full lifecycle ownership of technical solutions.
โ€ข Ability to translate technical features into clear business value propositions.
