We are seeking an experienced Network Operations Engineer to provide off-hours network support and execute critical infrastructure lifecycle initiatives. This role combines network operations, change execution, hardware refresh activities, and proactive maintenance to ensure a stable and high-performing enterprise network environment.

This is a fully remote opportunity for a dedicated resource who can work independently during overnight hours while collaborating closely with the broader Network Engineering team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier 1 network operations support during designated off-hours coverage.
  • Monitor network health, triage alerts, and resolve issues using established procedures and runbooks.
  • Execute approved network changes involving switches, wireless networking, and firewalls.
  • Perform firmware upgrades, hardware refreshes, equipment replacements, and patching activities.
  • Support remote site teams during network hardware installations and replacements.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues across an enterprise environment.
  • Document incidents, changes, and resolutions with a high level of accuracy.
  • Escalate complex networking issues to senior engineering teams as needed.
  • Participate in daily team standups and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise network infrastructure, including:
    • Firewalls
    • Routers
    • Switches
    • Wireless networking technologies
  • Experience performing:
    • Firewall upgrades
    • Switch upgrades
    • Firmware upgrades
    • Network device replacements
  • Strong troubleshooting experience within large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Solid understanding of:
    • TCP/IP
    • DNS
    • DHCP
    • VLANs
    • Routing and switching concepts
    • Wireless networking fundamentals
  • Experience executing changes within a structured change management process.
  • Ability to work independently during off-hours while maintaining strong documentation standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with enterprise networking platforms such as:
    • Cisco
    • Juniper
    • Aruba
    • Palo Alto
    • ClearPass
    • Comparable enterprise network technologies
  • Previous experience supporting hardware lifecycle management and infrastructure refresh initiatives.

Schedule & Training

Coverage Hours:

  • Sunday through Thursday
  • 12:30 AM – 9:30 AM CST

Training & Onboarding:

  • Approximately the first month will be conducted during standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST) to support onboarding and knowledge transfer.
  • Attendance at daily team standups is required.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Brookfield, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
