Job description

Job Summary
The Integration Systems Administrator is responsible for administering middleware tools, J2EE application servers, and Meter Data Management systems such as EnergyIP. This role focuses primarily on system administration activities (70-80%), including platform maintenance, monitoring, patching, and operational support, while also performing development work (20-30%) related to IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) integrations. The administrator collaborates with internal and external teams to troubleshoot issues, enhance system functionality, and maintain best practices for performance and security.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Administer integration platforms including IBM MQ, IBM ACE, MuleSoft, Active MQ, Kafka, and J2EE servers (WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat)
  2. Support EnergyIP Meter Data Management system for reliability and performance
  3. Monitor and maintain middleware to ensure 24x7x365 availability
  4. Implement high-availability configurations and disaster recovery solutions
  5. Perform patching and upgrades in compliance with policies and best practices
  6. Troubleshoot system issues and conduct root-cause analysis
  7. Collaborate with developers to deploy APIs, services, and workflows
  8. Develop and support IBM ACE flows, message transformations, and service integrations
  9. Automate administration tasks using Shell, Perl, DataWeave, and SQL
  10. Maintain system security including password management, file permissions, and network access
  11. Document configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures
  12. Provide cross-training and knowledge-sharing sessions with team members
  13. Participate in on-call rotations for critical system support

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Extensive experience with middleware tools (IBM MQ, IBM ACE, MuleSoft, Active MQ, Kafka)
  • Expertise in administering J2EE application servers (WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat)
  • Working knowledge of IBM ACE development (message flows, ESQL, JavaCompute nodes, integration patterns)
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and tuning JVMs
  • Experience with file-based integration (FTP, SFTP, AWS S3, Azure Blob)
  • Familiarity with API administration and service-oriented architectures (SOAP, REST)
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Shell, Perl, DataWeave, SQL)
  • Understanding of system security principles including SSH and file permissions

  2. Utility industry experience
