Job description

Position Purpose:
The Group Leader role at SRS Building Products is pivotal in overseeing the warehouse area, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures while spearheading safety, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct Supervision and Oversight: Lead and manage Team Leaders and Associates to ensure seamless operation of the production area in compliance with standardized operating procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Drive and spearhead improvement projects focused on quality enhancement, cost reduction, and safety through root cause analysis and lean manufacturing principles, fostering a culture of continuous innovation.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and implement effective learning and development programs for production team members, cultivating skills necessary for both current roles and future leadership opportunities.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments to support new product launches and ensure cohesive operations, leveraging departmental synergies to enhance overall organizational performance.
  • Safety and Compliance Management: Champion safety protocols and compliance standards, proactively addressing and resolving safety concerns to uphold a safe work environment and reduce risks.
  • Communication and Team Facilitation: Establish clear communication channels with team leaders and members, ensuring expectations are understood and promptly addressing any operational impediments to maintain smooth workflows.

Direct Reports:
  • The Group Leader directly supervises Team Leaders and Associates within the production area. The Group Leader is responsible for ensuring that all direct reports adhere to company policies and procedures, and for their ongoing development through training and mentorship.

Travel Requirements: Occasionally travel to various company locations to oversee production operations and engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
Physical Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate manufacturing equipment and processes, with prior experience in machine troubleshooting and repair.

Other:
  • Availability to work any assigned shift, including the ability to work overtime and on weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain composure and effectively handle stress and emergency situations.
  • Commitment to fostering a high-morale environment and supporting company policies.
  • Ability to effectively train and develop team members.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.

Certifications:
  • Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement methodologies are preferred.
  • Machining or Machine Tool Manufacturing certificates from an accredited institution are highly desired.
  • Safety-related certifications, such as OSHA, are considered advantageous.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree is preferred in a related field.
  • Certificates or diplomas from an accredited college or skill center in machine or machine tool manufacturing are highly desired.
