Business Developer, Commercial Landscape and Snow Services, Indianapolis area

BraveView, Inc.

Westfield, IN โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Posted 5 days ago

Job description

Our Client is an established and rapidly growing commercial landscape management company that is making significant investments in our people, operations, and continued expansion.
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager who can help drive that growth by developing new commercial landscape maintenance relationships and expanding our presence within the market.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven landscape sales professional who enjoys building relationships, developing new business, and being part of a company with the resources and ambition to grow.
The Business Development Manager will focus primarily on new business development, targeting commercial properties and organizations that value professional landscape management, responsive service, and long-term partnerships.
What You'll Do
Drive New Business Growth
  • Identify and pursue new commercial landscape maintenance and snow management opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects.
  • Build relationships with property managers, facility managers, asset managers, HOA/community managers, developers, and other commercial decision-makers.
  • Prospect through networking, referrals, industry organizations, property research, existing relationships, and targeted outreach.
  • Conduct site visits and property walk-throughs to understand prospective clients' needs.
  • Prepare professional proposals, estimates, take-offs, and presentations.
  • Manage opportunities throughout the complete sales cycle-from initial introduction through signed contract.
  • Achieve established annual sales and revenue goals.

Build Long-Term Client Relationships
Our goal isn't simply to win contracts. We want to develop long-term partnerships.
You will:
  • Understand each prospective client's property, priorities, expectations, and challenges.
  • Develop solutions that align our services with the client's objectives.
  • Clearly communicate the company's capabilities and value proposition.
  • Establish credibility and trust throughout the sales process.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and prospects to generate repeat business, referrals, and future opportunities.

Collaborate with Operations
Successful sales require strong communication between sales and operations.
You will work closely with the Branch Manager and operations team to:
  • Ensure proposed scopes are accurate and operationally achievable.
  • Develop appropriate pricing and production assumptions.
  • Communicate client expectations before transitioning new accounts to operations.
  • Participate in site walks and pre-production meetings when appropriate.
  • Help ensure new clients receive a smooth transition from sales to service.

Manage Your Sales Pipeline
  • Maintain accurate prospect, proposal, and sales activity information.
  • Provide regular pipeline and sales forecasts.
  • Track proposals, follow-up activities, close rates, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Maintain organized records within the company's CRM and operating systems.
  • Stay informed about market activity, competitors, property transitions, and upcoming contract opportunities.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, relationship-driven sales professional who understands the commercial landscape industry and knows how to turn relationships and opportunities into revenue.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of sales or business development experience, preferably within commercial landscaping or a closely related service industry.
  • Strong understanding of commercial landscape maintenance; knowledge of enhancements and snow management is highly desirable.
  • Existing relationships within the commercial property management, facilities, HOA, multifamily, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, or related markets are a plus.
  • Ability to prospect independently and consistently develop new opportunities.
  • Experience preparing estimates, proposals, and service contracts.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to establish credibility and build relationships with decision-makers.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple opportunities through different stages of the sales cycle.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, estimating software, Microsoft Office, and other business technology.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree preferred but industry experience and demonstrated sales success are more important.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is beneficial but not required.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?
Our most successful Business Development Managers are:
  • Hunters who enjoy opening doors and developing new relationships.
  • Consultative salespeople who listen before they sell.
  • Highly responsive and dependable.
  • Comfortable talking with everyone from property managers to executives to field operations.
  • Competitive and motivated by achieving sales goals.
  • Organized and disciplined with their pipeline.
  • Strong communicators who follow through on commitments.
  • Knowledgeable about the landscape industry and capable of identifying opportunities on a property.
  • Team players who understand that selling the right work is just as important as selling more work.

How Success Will Be Measured
Performance will be evaluated based on factors including:
  • New commercial maintenance revenue sold.
  • Development and quality of the sales pipeline.
  • Achievement of annual sales goals.
  • Proposal-to-close ratio.
  • Profitability and quality of work sold.
  • New client development and relationship building.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of proposals and estimates.
  • Effective transition of new accounts to operations.
  • Professional communication and follow-through.

Work Environment
This position combines business development, client meetings, property visits, networking, and office-based sales activities.
Candidates should be comfortable visiting commercial properties and working outdoors in varying weather conditions when conducting site evaluations and property walk-throughs.
The position may occasionally require walking uneven terrain, bending, climbing, or inspecting landscape conditions throughout commercial properties.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This isn't a position with a company looking to simply maintain the status quo.
The organization is established, financially strong, and actively investing in growth. That creates an opportunity for the right Business Development Manager to help expand the business while building their own career alongside it.
If you are an experienced commercial landscape professional who knows how to develop relationships, create opportunities, and close new business, we'd like to speak with you.
Please respond to this job post with your resume and we will review and get back to you.
This is an immediate hire.
