Job description

HEAD BASEBALL COACH/ATHLETIC ASSOCIATE
CATEGORY/LEVEL: PSS: ATH/4 (Full-time, 12-month position)
BASICFUNCTION: Administer all aspects of NIACC's baseball program, includingsupporting the oversight and management of NIACC's new all-turf baseballfacility scheduled to open Spring 2027. Providesupport to the Athletic Director through operational support of all athleticprograms, facilities, and grounds, event management, compliance and fundraising.
START DATE: ASAP
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary of $65,000 to $75,000based on experience. Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield majormedical health insurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paidvacation and sick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans, and avariety of additional optional benefits.
REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree with a minimum of two years of coachingexperience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to workwith people at all levels, both internal and external to the institution.Excellent time management and organizational skills. This position will includeevening work, weekend responsibilities, and travel in state and out of state.
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and college-level coaching preferred. Experience with recruitment of studentathletes.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
โ€ข Responsible for coordinating the baseball program in collaboration with the Athletic Director. Duties include, but are not limited to, team travel, training sessions, competitions, recruitment, budget and purchasing, and special events.
โ€ข Assist with facility operations, scheduling coordination, game day preparation, maintenance oversight, and helping ensure the facility is maintained at a high standard for student athletes, staff, and visitors.
โ€ข Create and maintain a baseball program culture that places an emphasis on academic achievement and a commitment to learner success. Collaborate with campus departments and personnel to maximize efforts for student academic support and services.
โ€ข Assist the Athletic Director in the role of Athletic Associate with operational support as assigned and in areas such as athletic event management, facilities and department operations, grounds maintenance, and compliance.
โ€ข In collaboration with the Athletic Director, develop and maintain a consistent fundraising effort and assist with departmental fundraising events and objectives.
โ€ข Adhere to all sports rules, procedures, and guidelines established by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) constitution and bylaws.
โ€ข Collaborate with administration on all topics related to baseball student-athlete initial and continuing eligibility guidelines established by the NJCAA.
โ€ข Collaborate with the Athletic Director to forecast annual budgetary needs for the baseball program, monitor expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner that aligns with institutional policies and procedures.
โ€ข Design and administer an in-season and off-season training and development program that maximizes efforts and output in alignment with NJCAA Article VII Section 2 guidelines.
โ€ข Responsible for the recruitment and training of assistant coaches and team support personnel.
โ€ข Responsible for creating and maintaining a recruitment, development, and retention strategy that produces consistency with regard to competition outcome goals and roster size objectives for the baseball program.
โ€ข Support the Admissions Department with on-campus visit days.
โ€ข Effectively contribute to institutional core values by focusing on educational excellence, learner success, community engagement, continuous improvement, and collaborative leadership.
โ€ข Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
