Park Place of St. John, an Senior Living Community, located in St. John, IN is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for Full Time, 8:00AM-4:30PM with On-Call Responsibilities . The primary purpose of your job position is to maintain the grounds, facility, equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies, and procedures, and as may be directed by the Director of Environment of Care, to assure that a successful maintenance program is maintained.
Summary of essential job functions:
  • Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
  • Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs, to include, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform cleaning duties wherever necessary.
  • Regulate heating and ventilation systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of energy.
  • Assists in fire pump and generator testing, wheelchair, bed, and nurse call preventative maintenance as required.
  • Performs routine carpentry repairs such as kitchen cabinets, window screens or glass, door locks, and plaster or drywall repair.
  • Performs plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains, faucets, or floats, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices).
  • Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Other('s) that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
  • Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drills, drill presses, and other hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work.
  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair by making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.

  • Pass a physical, drug screen, 50-pound lift test, fingerprint for criminal background and complete a reference check.
  • 1-2 years' Maintenance experience in Assisted and Independent living is preferred.
