Job description

Performs a variety of duties in support of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Community Recreation program that may include special events, recreation information/resources, command events, visiting ships or fleet support, community events, trips, tours, outings, party and picnic rental equipment, resale tickets, recreational green space management, bowling, Library, Liberty, grab-n-go, movies, and outdoor recreation.Qualifications:

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. All non-government positions identified on your resume must include complete address and to and from dates. Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of the goals, philosophy, principles, and methods of procedures used in organizing, planning, administrating and conducting facility operations.
  • Knowledge of the daily operations of the facility to be able to answers questions from patrons.
  • Knowledge of the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs for recreation operations.
  • Knowledge of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to follow instructions, present options and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate excellent customer service techniques and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to effectively operate office machines to include cash registers and computers.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and perform basic word processing and spreadsheet tasks using Microsoft and site-specific software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must have 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
