Job description

Description The Town of Wendell is seeking to hire up to 9 Recreation Aides to assist in our Parks and Recreation Division. If you have a great personality and would love to work with the public. Please come and join us in Wendell for one of our seasonal part-time jobs as a Recreation Aide.

The Recreation Aide will assist the Recreation Leaders with daily operation of the facility and recreation programs. The Recreation Aide will always work with a Recreation Leader or a full-time Supervisor. An employee in this position is responsible for providing outstanding customer service when assisting the public using various communication methods.

The Recreation Aide is a part-time, seasonal position. Essential Duties and Tasks Assist Supervisor with daily operation of the facility and recreation programs. Responsible for providing outstanding customer service when assisting the public using various communication methods.

Must be familiar with the facility and the Town's programs Clean up before, during and after events and rentals. Report any damaged equipment or low inventory items to their Supervisor immediately. Overseeing park grounds during events and rentals.

Be active in keeping score and minor statistics in our sports leagues. Monitor athletic teams to make sure events are being conducted safely. Ensure the court or field is ready for game play.

Considerable knowledge of athletic field layout and preparation. Attends all staff training prior to start of season. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be enthusiastic about working with all populations, display personal maturity, have great communication and customer service skills. Ability to remain focused on the job, while dealing with interruptions. Ability to read and retain information provided and comprehend verbal instructions from Facility Managers and Recreation Leaders.

Desirable Education and Experience Candidate must be at least 16 years of age and customer service oriented. Basic mathematical skills and decision-making skills are required. Basic understanding of sport knowledge and application of rules and regulation of sports are expected.
