Job Title: Assistant Project ManagerJob DescriptionThis role serves as an Assistant Project Manager supporting multiple federal construction projects in the Mid-Atlantic region, particularly within the DMV area. The position manages day-to-day operational aspects of federal construction work, assists with estimating and bidding, and supports project scheduling and subcontractor coordination for projects totaling approximately $15 million.
Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of assigned federal construction projects in the DMV area.
- Support 2–3 concurrent federal projects, with a combined value of approximately $15 million.
- Review scopes of work thoroughly to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Engage, prequalify, and coordinate subcontractors, including arranging and overseeing site visits to enable accurate bidding.
- Assist with estimating and bidding task order contracts and Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts.
- Prepare and organize bid packages, ensuring subcontractors receive clear and complete information.
- Support project scheduling activities, including developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractor activities to align with the overall project schedule and milestones.
- Assist the Project Manager in monitoring project progress, identifying issues, and helping to implement corrective actions.
- Participate in client-facing activities, including meetings and progress updates, representing the project team professionally.
- Collaborate with the internal team to ensure project documentation, reports, and records are accurate and up to date.
- Support construction field operations by coordinating between field personnel, subcontractors, and the office.
- Contribute to design, engineering, and construction management discussions as needed to support project delivery.
- Use project management and office software tools to track tasks, documentation, and project status.
- Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Essential Skills- 2–5 years of experience in federal construction projects, including work with NAVFAC and GSA.
- Demonstrated experience in construction field operations and project management.
- Hands-on experience with estimating and bidding for task order and IDIQ contracts.
- Ability to review scopes of work and translate requirements into accurate subcontractor bid packages.
- Proficiency in project scheduling and coordinating subcontractor activities.
- Strong understanding of construction management and engineering principles.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office and Excel.
- Mature professional demeanor with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing interaction.
- Eligibility to work on federal projects requiring United States citizenship.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Experience working on federal construction projects in the Mid-Atlantic region is beneficial.
- Familiarity with design and engineering coordination within construction projects.
- Ability to work effectively within a small, tight-knit project team.
- Comfort working in a fast-growing general contracting environment with evolving processes and opportunities.
Work EnvironmentThe Assistant Project Manager works primarily from an office in the Waldorf area alongside the internal project team, fostering close collaboration and communication. The role includes light travel to project sites within the DMV region to support site visits, subcontractor coordination, and field activities.
