Job description

NV5 C&E Groups are regionally managed as the West, Northeast and Southeast and include national practices in Buildings and Technology, Structural, Forensics, Traffic, Power & Delivery, and LNG services.

Project Accountants work with Controllers, Assistant Controllers, Executives, Business Unit Leaders, and Project Managers to create projects in Vantage Point, assist with the financial tracking of projects, recognize revenue, invoice projects, provide reports and support for all project related financial operations of a project.


The most frequent and essential work activities include:

  • Set-up projects in Deltek Vantage Point according to contract and revenue method, assure billing terms are input according to contract and client billing requirements;
  • Enter project budget information and upload all required documents into Deltek Vantage Point;
  • Maintain and update projects throughout project life cycle, including but not limited to revenue recognition, invoicing, change orders and additional task orders.
  • Perform ongoing backlog review and maintenance.
  • Run and review project reports to assist with revenue generation;
  • Maintain and clean-up projects on regular basis;
  • Review and maintain project unbilled detail in conjunction with the assigned BU leaders;
  • Enter project-related vendor AP invoices in Deltek Vantagepoint and code to the appropriate project.
  • Process and maintain unit transactions in Deltek Vantagepoint, ensuring accurate project coding.

  • Record requested labor adjustments;
  • Assist in closing projects after all transactions are completed;
  • Process monthly invoices for review and approval by assigned Project Managers;
  • Review and maintain project billing terms, ensure client’s requirements are met;
  • Finalize and distribute monthly invoices to Clients;
  • Month-end close activities—journal entries, accruals;
  • Subconsultant/subcontractor billing coordination and retainage tracking;
  • Project Audit support;
  • Run and distribute monthly AR reports to BU leaders, support AR collections process; and
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Accounting Degree or relevant financial experience, or a combination of Degree and relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
  • Solid organizational skills with superior attention to detail and time management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels.
  • Great interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to flourish in a fast-paced, complex environment with a willingness to adapt to new and changing processes quickly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Accounting or 2 years of relevant project accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Deltek Vantage Point or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting
  • 2 years of experience with project accounting in high volume C&E environment.
