Job description

Job Title: Production Assistant
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Objective: The objective of the Production Assistant position is to assist and support the Production Coordinator in overseeing daily production operations. The role involves guiding workers in daily production operations, supporting customer service efforts, and assisting the Production Coordinator to maintain quality and safety standards. This role ensures smooth production flow in the absence of the Production Coordinator.
Areas amp; Responsibilities:
  1. Coordination and Team Development:
    • Assists in coordination of production personnel.
    • Assists in training and development opportunities of team members to enhance skills and promote career growth.
    • Safely operates material handling equipment.
    • Maintains safety standards and practices.
  2. Quality Assurance:
    • Assists in development and review of work instructions with all team members.
    • Ensures that production processes and finished products meet established quality standards and specifications.
    • Addresses and resolves any quality-related problems promptly and effectively.
  3. Production Planning and Coordination:
    • Meets production schedules as established by our customers and communicated through the Materials Planning Coordinator (MPC).
    • Supports customer service efforts with the MPC and functions as a back-up in the absence of the Production Coordinator.
    • Assists in completing time studies for all active jobs.
    • Monitors and adjusts production processes to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  4. Reporting and Documentation:
    • Accurately completes daily production documentation.
  5. Crisis Intervention:
    • Assists case management staff to provide crisis intervention as needed.
Essential Functions:

  • Maintain physical activity and focus throughout the shift, performing repetitive and high-pressure tasks.
  • Observe visual and auditory cues from clients and employees.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, management, and other departments in person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Review and analyze complex documents and data.
  • Perform repetitive motions with hands and wrists using a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to handle and assemble small pieces.
  • Ability to drive to various employment sites, meet with customers, and attend trainings as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Assists with supervision of Production Associates.
Work Environment: Normal working hours are 40 hours per week within a warehouse/production environment.
Physical Demands: Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, kneel, and occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
Education And Experience: High school diploma or its equivalent. Minimum of two years manufacturing experience. Supervisory background preferred.
Additional Eligibility Requirements: Must have access to reliable transportation, as position requires frequent travel within a multi-county area.
