ASSISTANT PASTRY CHEF
Location: Hightop Hospitality Commissary Kitchen • Saint Paul, MN
Compensation: $18.00-$22.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level
Schedule: 3 days per week (with additional hours during peak season)
ABOUT THE ROLE
Love baking from scratch, working with a passionate team, and being part of events that people remember forever? Hightop Hospitality is looking to add an Assistant Pastry Chef to our St. Paul catering division, working alongside our Executive Pastry Chef. From elegant wedding cakes and French macarons to profiteroles, tartlets, dessert shooters, and buttermilk biscuits, our pastry department creates scratch-made products that bring every event to life.
This role is hands-on and fast-paced, perfect for someone who takes pride in consistency, organization, and craft. No two days are the same. You'll work behind the scenes to bring events to life while building strong foundational pastry skills in a high-volume, professional kitchen.
ABOUT US
Hightop Hospitality supports four catering brands-The Deco Catering, Kafe 421, Sterling Catering, and Green Mill Catering-executing events across a wide variety of venues in the Twin Cities metro. Our pastry program plays a key role in delivering high-quality, scratch-made products that elevate every guest experience.
SCHEDULE
We operate year-round with peak event season from May through early November.
  • Year-round role with consistent part-time hours and increased scheduling during peak event season
  • Set schedule of approximately 3 days per week (with additional hours during peak season)
  • Shifts typically begin early morning and run through daytime hours
  • Regular availability required for Fridays and Saturdays during peak season

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Prepare and bake a variety of scratch-made pastries, desserts, and baked goods
  • Assist with production of cakes, fillings, frostings, and plated desserts
  • Follow recipes with precision and assist with scaling and batch production
  • Maintain consistency and high-quality presentation standards
  • Support ingredient prep, portioning, and inventory organization
  • Help with packaging, labeling, and preparing orders for events
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen environment
  • Collaborate with culinary and events teams to execute production timelines
